Far and away the best movie I've seen in a long time (I won't say ever until it's had time to age). I agree that the psychological tension in this movie is insane. If there's a problem it's that you're always waiting for the next Joker appearance, and next to him everything pales a little in comparison. I think Bale's performance in Begins was better, but TDK is far and away a better movie. I cannot express how fracked up the Joker is as a bad guy. Anytime you've watched a bad guy and told yourself, "if this dude was truly smart and really evil he would do this", it happens in TDK. The only thing that threw me a little bit is after the origin story of Begins, this movie is a lot less about Batman and a lot more about Joker and Dent. It caught me off guard a little, but after sleeping on it and thinking about it today I can't wait to see it again tomorrow.

And yeah, you could hate comic book movies, but if you have any love for crime, mob, or psychological thrillers this move is for you. Like I said above, this is more about the psychology of Joker and Dent than it is about Batman.

I saw it yesterday and while I think its great I also think it’s over hyped. I need to see it again before really judging it though. As of right now I like BB better but with more viewings I am sure I will like TDK more. I just dont ever see this movie being in my top 10.

Just saw the film today and I must say I am thoroughly impressed.
When rain has hung the leaves with tears
I want you near
To kill my fears
To help me to leave all my blues behind.
For standing in your heart
Is where I wanna be
And I long to be,
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.-Donovan

9.6 is way too low for TDK.

Why does everyone like to rub it in? Some of us still haven't seen it yet.

This film is a 10 all the way! This was way better than BB, and BB is one of my all time fav's. The whole plot and flow of the movie is so intense, you just cant wait to see what happens in the next scene! I felt this movie lived up to the hype and blew expectations out the roof!!

10/10. Heath Ledgers performance was absolutely amazing, too.
I want you to understand that this man at the wheel is my attorney. He's not just some dingbat I found on the strip, man. He's a foreigner. I think he's probably Samoan. But that doesn't matter, though, does it? Are you prejudiced?

I haven't seen the movie, but this review by Patrick Ryan Lewis on Yahoo Movies confused me.

Story: F
Acting: C-
Direction: D-
Visuals: A
Overall: F

"Man, how I wanted to see this so bad. I really don't head to the theater too much (thank you Netflix!), but trekked out to midnight showing and sat in the packed, sold out theater. An hour in, I was ready to fall aspleep, and not because I was tired.

The story is just totally and completely non-existent. I am talking none, zero.

The acting is average at best. Everyone praising Heath Ledger is simply not wanting to speak bad about someone who passed away. How Maggie Gyllenhaal continues to get work is beyond me. Aaron Eckhart is completely wasted, and Christian Bale (who I loved as in Batman Begins) takes a huge step down.

Most disappointing to me wa the direction. Christopher Nolan, who directed one of my favorite films of the last 10 years (The Prestige), can't decide if he wants to make an action film or a drama, and ends up just making a film with no clear direction at all.

Yes, the visuals are stunning in the movie, and the action scenes are first rate. And I guess that it is why it i getting such great reviews, because we live in an MTV society which wants everything in your face and pounded over your head instead having to be made to pay attention to things like character development and plot.

My advice to you all: skip this one and wait for the dvd."

just saw this one. i dont know what it is about nolans directing. he seems to think that a musical score needs to be in every scene....but its kinda distracting sometimes and doesnt fit well with what emotion he wants presented on the screen. i didnt really like the first batman he did and this second one was just a tad better in my book....honestly im a huge batman fan(i have a ton of his comics) i guess i was just expecting too much. i liked tim burtons batman better...just my opinion....(puts flame suit on )
