If there was an announcement, you wouldn't have to ask about it - there would already be posts about it for sure.

We're likely to see The X-Files: Fight The Future and The X-Files: I Want To Believe on Blu-ray this fall - Fox has the habit of releasing earlier movies in a series when the latest one is released.

As for the series itself, don't expect it anytime soon. Older TV shows in general will not be coming out soon, as TV on Blu-ray hasn't been selling that well, and the resources to produce an entire TV season are, at the moment, better spent on getting more movies onto Blu-ray. For the X-Files in particular, early seasons (through season 4 I believe) were reportedly produced only in standard definition, which, if true, hurts the chance of any Blu-ray release. Seasons 5 on were captured with film and produced in widescreen, so those could very well yield nice Blu-ray releases, but again older TV shows are not the priority for Blu-ray right now.

That's a tall order asking about all 9 seasons. Anyways I have not heard anyrhing about them coming to Blu-ray. So far the only TV shows on Blu-ray are pretty much brand new.

Thanks, I just joined a few minutes ago. They may come out with blu-ray discs for the seasons since it was a big hit. Just look at the Star Wars Collection. A few years back, I remember seeing a digitally remastered version of the old star wars films. Maybe the same will be true for the x-files.

Give it time, you can pretty much get any TV show ever made on DVD, it will just take a while for Blu-ray.

Oh don't worry. With the horrendous prices for blu-ray right now, I'm more than willing to give it time.

The earlier seasons would be a huge undertaking as much of it I believe was filmed in SD and a mix between Video and 35mm....Not only would they need to remaster the video for the episodes, but much if not ALL of the effects....The chances are slim to none that it will come out on Blu-ray....The movies on the other hand have a MUCH better if not definite chance of making it (as it has been rumored\confirmed already)..Sometimes its just not possible\feasible for the studios to do movies\shows on Blu-ray......

IMO its just not going to happen...

I agree. The prices for blu-ray are too high. A lot of people will probably feel awful later when prices drop dramatically in a year. Imagain buying a blu-ray disc and then seeing it for signficantly less a few months later. Moral of the story...WAIT.

The X-Files movies have a way better chance of making it than the TV show!
How I like my Blu-rays: 1.78:1 ratio or go home!

Movies I cannot wait for: 127 Hours, Tron Legacy, Thor, Captain America

Yah, but the movies aren't as good as the normal tv series. It's certainly a tall order, but there just may be a chance that Fox will do it and charge a high premium for it.

Perhaps in 2013 as a celebration of the series' 20th anniversary.

You may very well be right. I think that was done for the star wars anniversary (digitally remastered version). By then, blu-ray will be mainstream and much cheaper. So it will be perfect timing.

That is your opinion.

People, it has been confirmed that there are at least no current plans to release the TV series on Blu-ray, sadly.

Once the economics of a Blu-ray release of the television show make sense it will happen. Fox has shown they are ruthless in exploiting a few of their key assets which X-Files most certainly is. Do I really have to run down the various dvds they've released of the show over the years? The studios are mainly waiting for a larger installed BD player base to support tv releases. Check back in three years...
