Default Should I/How do I update?

I think I should probably firmware update my blu ray player, it's a samsung. It's this one

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-BD-P14...5208851&sr=8-2

I got it back in November so I'm sure it's begging for an update, so well how do I update it? Can you please give me a step by step explanation, I'm not good with this kind of thing.

read the last link all the way through, it tells you how to update.

any questions just ask. Oh, and do not turn off the player before it is complete!

update provides playback stability, and if you didnt already have an update, it also provides Dts-HD MA playback. Do you have a sound system?

yes, I have a RCA 5.1 Surround Sound set, it's fairly old (about 5 years) but it works good. About how long does it take to update?

well, unfortunately your sound system will not accomodate Dts-HD MA bitstream, but if you connect with analog cables (if your system has 5.1 analog inputs?) you should be able to take advantage of Dolby TrueHD decoding.

how long does it take to update? I have no idea, I do not have a 1400. But I would guess it shouldn't take any more than 30 minutes?

I have a Samsung BD-P1200 and have downloaded at least 7 firmware upgrades over the past 16 months. You can go to the Samsungusa web site and print out the instructions for downloading.

I myself prefer to download the upgrade to my desktop, extract the ISO file and burn the image to a CD. That is the key, to use the Burn the Image option, and not actually copy the file.

Then just follow the instructions from Samsung. Actual time once you place the CD in your Sammy is less than 10 minutes.
