Eric Bana is in the top left corner. I think the others are Uhura, Spock and Kirk.

Why not Bones instead of Uhura?

It is amazing how much Zachary Quinto looks like Leonard Nimoy. If you did not know better you would probably think that is Nimoy on the image.
If I go missing for a time, fear not, I am traveling with The Doctor. The 11th Doctor, Matt Smith.

He was the only one of the 3 that I could safely guess the character he was playing, though I'm not really sure he looks that much like Nimoy. I quickly pegged him as the guy from Heroes.

Hopefully, Paramount is being too tight with the budget so that this movie might really be able to be done right.

I think it will be huge but not as huge as Dark Knight... Actually I don't think any movie will come close to what Batman's gonna make over this weekend.

Some footage has been seen. There are spoilers here:

[Show spoiler]The first part of the footage seems to depict a pre-Kirk Enterprise- with Kirk possibly one of the cadets present - escorting a convoy of freighters into warp speed...

The view is of the warp jump. It looks like the stuff from the TMP era, with streams of mainly white light with a slight rainbow hue forming a tunnel and the view shaking a bit to show the ship is rocketing along. Definitely doesn't seem like the nice smooth cruise from the TNG series...

An attack follows, with 'red beams of light', and much tossing oneself about on the bridge. Then there's some kind of distress call from a Constitution-class vessel called the Yorktown, whose destruction is singled out for praise..

Now this is one shot I have to single out for praise. It looks so real and harrowing, like seeing the remains of a collapsed skyscraper. The viewscreen POV is of the side of the Yorktown, with saucer section on the left side. The nacelles and most of the top half of the secondary hull is just gone, blown off, with thick black smoke billowing out every which way. The viewscreen suddenly changes to show the face of what looks most definitely like a (rather human-looking) bad guy smirking in triumph. Footage ends abruptly before he can speak.

The sequence continues to a confrontation between the unnamed captain of the Enterprise and an alien vessel described as "like a Vulcan ship but it has a tri-nacelle configuration". The captain fires some formidable ordinance at the ship...

During this exchange you can see the shields of both ships flashing bright white electrical-like when the weapons hit, like when a bulb blows. Very quick or you'll miss it. You get the impression that either ship could be destroyed by just a handful of hits with these weapons.

Though it hardly seems likely that Abrams is abandoning CGI for a film as challenging as Star Trek, the director is on record as preferring to build rather than 'post', and presumably this policy about creating sets has extended as far as possible into the SFX of the picture itself. Which is a good thing...

Here's the rest of the cast:

John Cho (Sulu), Simon Pegg (Scotty), Anton Yelchin (Chekov), and Karl Urban (McCoy).

Sorry, I couldn't get Chekov any smaller
