Default Mortuary mini review

Picked up Mortuary online from that Familyvideo.com .
Tobe Hooper (Texas Chainsaw Massacre) is behind the movie, about a single mother who moves to a little town to start a new life working at the local mortuary. (Denise Crosby from Star Trek TNG and Pet Cemetary is the mother)
The town has a local legend about the family that used to own the mortuary and the son that disappeared.

The movie itself is not bad, solid performances and good pacing and not bad all and all.
Nothing overly memorable, but not a film that I regret buying.

The PQ unfortunately is definitely another story, and while I have not seen the dvd version I have to imagine that upscaled it most likely looks exactly the same.
Colors are not very striking, mucho grain.
Luckily I picked it up for $10 new so all is right in the world.

This was a Sci Fi Original Movie, so that should let you know something right there. I watched this when it was originally on (not in HD) and the picture quality wasn't the best to begin with.

Yeah I was going to say that it comes off like a sci fi channel attempt at Lovecraft by someone who only knows Lovecraft from wikipedia.

The story takes too long to develop but there is a solid cast that I actually recognize from Hollywood movies. I agree about the PQ comments as the movie never looks much better than an upconverted dvd.

An old thread that I have already commented on, but the answer to your question is probably not. It is only worth watching if you catch it flipping channels, and have nothing better to do with your time.
