I purchased the Nordisk Film release of "Children of Men" at the height of the format war and you can find this region-free disc at Axel Music for around $40. The main menu only offers the nordic language choices so you will have to turn the language off using the remote. It will then default to English. It is truly a terrific disc that I will only upgrade if the inevitable Universal release has stellar PQ and AQ as well as some decent featurettes about the making of this masterpiece. This is one of the few films that would motivate me to watch all the extras. I highly recommend this disc if you are a fanatic about the film and lack patience like me!

There have been more than a few occasions where I've had to turn on the English subtitles simply because some lines are spoken too softly, mumbled, and/or spoken with such a thick accent (usually southern) that I can't comprehend what they're saying.

...and hell, English is my native (and only) language. On the topic of Children of Men I have an import copy of it, and the PQ is spectacular. The audio, while DD 5.1 only, is still very good. If this does get released here in the US I'll be tempted to double-dip. One can only hope that we get this kind of picture quality, though. |
