It's all right here:
http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh..._Blu-rays/2003 I, for one, was looking forward to owning Carrie and The Amityville Horror on Blu-ray. But now that MGM has decided not to port over the extras from the DVDs to the Blu-ray editions, making the upcoming Blu-ray releases of the films completely bare-bones, I've decided wholeheartedly that I'm gonna have to pass on these until proper versions of these two horror classics are released! Not cool, MGM. Not cool!

I thought we'd finally got past this crap of not porting over extras...I guess not.
Welcome to blu-ray.com, where slipcovers are more important than Blu-rays.

Pass. The price is too high for them to drop the features off. Plus the fact that I don't own Carrie on DVD and there for would be missing out on all the features...

This sort of defeats the purpose of releasing them on BD. Yes, there will be improvements in PQ and AQ, but it's a waste not taking advantage of that disc space. I probably wouldn't have bought these two either way.

That is what I believe as well. Many dvd extras were licensed for one time use and the studios don't want to pay out on BDs that aren't going to be big sellers. It is the same reason why some extras get cut from one dvd edition to the next even when the same studio is releasing it.

That's fine, but if you can't port any of the extras or create new ones, don't set a $40 MSRP, Fox.

Yeah I don't understand the MGM releases I don't think any of their Blu releases have had any extras. Doesn't excuse the fact their aren't even original theatrical trailers for the films! It is really odd... FOX is just not ready to handle the MGM releases.. They seem to do an ok job on the standard dvd releases but BLU they are the WORST.
Maybe by next year this issue will be cleared up and they can release the 70's version of INVASION of the BODY SNATCHERS on blu with all the EXTRAS!
Stop the Replacing of original Studio Opening / Closing logos! These are becoming endangered and should be kept intact. They are part of film history.

I'm not a fan of extras features. All I care about is the movie and how good the PQ is. However these catalog titles from Fox at $39.00 MSRP and with no extra features are just plain ridiculous. Fox titles are by far the most expensive out there. These prices must come down fast or Blu-Ray will never take off the way good old DVD did. I love Carrie and Amityville Horror but there's no way I'm paying 30 bucks for these titles. I'll pay 20 at best..............

I don't care about extras as long as the film quality is top notch. But I'm not paying that much for barebones. Perhaps it will be cheap on sale at best buy when it comes out. I'd consider paying 24.99. The other option is to wait for a used copy to pop up. Half the blu-ray's I've purchased were used. As a result, the most I've paid for a blu-ray is $23.99. Unfortunately I could've even got that one for less if I had picked it up a day earlier.

I'm always amused when people complain about a blu-ray release that doesn't contain rehashed DVD features they've already watched. When you've seen a special feature clip, there's usually no reason to ever watch it again.
But, if you want to stick with a lesser quality version of the film because a few features, you more than likely wouldn't watch anyway, are missing - no one's stopping you. |

When these titles are under the $20 mark, I'll grab them both. So I'll just keep watch on the Fry's ad's once their released. Sooner or later, they will be on sale for $13-$16. And then I'll take the ad over to Best Buy and price match for RZ points!!!!
