Well, they're both equally terrible. The pq and aq is obviously good due to the advanced audio and visual.

well no t&a in Prom night.. dangit... I had low expectations so I made it thru it.
as for The Ruins and Shutter, I go The Ruins for sure. there is a great shot of the blonde in the beggining. Shutter I thought only the last 20 minutes were good.

Ruins was a blind buy for me and it was the ultimate worse movie I have ever seen. I was highly disappointed and I felt robbed.

(The PQ and AQ was okay though.)

All the Boys Love Mandy Lane is great. But is that disc region free?

I haven't seen Shutter, but The Ruins was a great horror film. Not as chilling as the book, but it delivers.

I didn't care for either of these movies. The novel The Ruins was really good, but the movie left out most of the best parts from the book.
The Exorcism of Emily Rose was a much better, creepier movie, and it starred Laura Linney who is really talented.
Put the blu-ray in the f@*{'n basket. I'll hurt your poodle mister.

Picture quality on both were AWESOME. Some of the best I have seen to this day. I really liked the ruins, and shutter took me by suprise.

No comparison. The Ruins is a million times better than Shutter. That movie should have been direct to video. It has really, really cheap scares and is another crappy, cliched Japanese horror remake that shouldn't have been remade. Easily one of the worst movies of 2008.

The Ruins is far more interesting of a story. I mean, how many times do you need to see a horror movie about a Japanese ghost? *yawn*

Rotten Tomatoes averages:

The Ruins: 46%

Shutter: 7%

I went into watching The Ruins without knowing anything about it and came away pleasantly surprised. Is it a classic? No but it is definitely a very watchable modern horror movie.

The Ruins is one of the WORST movies I have ever seen. A stupid story, horrible acting...just a complete waste of a BD disk. Other than that it is great!

The Ruins was a good movie (good pq) [its like that creepshow skit where they're stuck on a raft in the lake and theres a oil patch blob after out to get them if they hit the water]

Shutter you just want to burn and then bring it back and demand a refund (pq sucks too) [the only good part of the movie was the ending, not only because it ended but the ending scene was nice rest was as described]

I just got done watching Prom Night. You know what my opinion is? Grab your rifle, throw the movie in the air, and pretend its clay.

I would definatley say the ruins is better more of an original story line and very gruesome if your into that kind of thing.
I quite enjoyed Shutter aswell just depends what you like.
