Superman Returns Blu-ray

It's great that we are geting lossless audio for superman finally I didn"t mind the movie but why not offer a exchnge program for those of us that already have the other dd version. I mean apparently there are not other extras so why not? Come on Warner.

Agreed...I remember reading part of the reason the film was so over budget was the big scene w/ 'krypton,' the space ship and his silver costume...why not throw in the Director's Cut and let us see finally that ***t??? I'd buy that in a second!

Very true... I still have my have not openned my original copy of the movie. If Warner keeps the same sku, I would be tempted to do the right thing for me.

That would be the right thing for Warner to do. After all, they did it when they messed up Terminator 3.

I hope this is a sign that Warner is listening. I actually just sold my copy of SR (because of DD) and so I may buy it again with the lossless audio.

Are the new improved copies in stores yet? I'm curious for a review of the changes, I haven't bought any copy of the movie yet.

If Warner would do the right thing, then I'd like to exchange the DVDs that come with the Blade Runner set with BDs because all of that video footag sans the old clips are shot on HD.

True, but if you watch carefully, especially near the end under water, you'll notice an extreme amount of compression artifacts ranging from pixelization to color banding. Bit rates drop below 10Mbps many times throughout the film and not during dark, still scenes but fast moving, lighter scenes.

Warner really compressed the snot out of this one.

It's a tough call this. It's not as if the film looks bad on BD, and it was shot in that kind of soft way, but I've always just got the impression when watching it that it could still look somewhat better with a new higher bitrate encode.

Why? There was nothing wrong with the original disc. It was advertised and labeled as DD only, and anyone who bought it knew it was DD only. And the disc has been out for almost 2 years now - anyone who purchased it has been able to enjoy it for that whole time period.

WB did an exchange for Terminator 3 because that was a mistake, and the disc was labeled and sold as 1080p when it was in fact not. This is a totally different situation. Perfect response. My thoughts exactly. I stayed away from buying because of DD. Others knew that too. Warner is in no way obligated to do an exchange.

While it's always nice to get releases quick and with US style cases and art, believe it or not the Australian actually winds up being cheaper shipped due to conversion.

I just paid about $22 US for it.
