Yep, they are pro subs, but I've seen a few people online with them in their homes...talk about shaking the foundation! Thanks for all your hard work on this forum, btw.

Hey guys,

I can't believe there is no mention of Peerless! There is some company called "Peerless" there (which I've never heard of) that are definitely not the Peerless that I'm talking about, the Peerless I'm talking about is this one: http://www.tymphany.com. I wouldn't be surprised to find Peerless subwoofer drivers being used in some of the high-end model subwoofers from a couple of the manufacturers listed here.

Sure, Tymphany just make the drivers themselves... but I think they are worth mentioning when considering the high-end nature of these subs. There are companies that make use of these drivers and sell them as subwoofer kits, e.g. in Australia that would be this company: http://d-s-t.com.au/speakerkits/subwooferkits.htm, so maybe that should be listed instead (in Australia the subs here are definitely worth considering for any home theater! Have a listen and you'll see what I mean! I am still _completely_ awestruck.). I myself am saving up for the XLS1002 from d-s-t.com.au... I can't wait!

I came to this website by searching Google after recently hearing about room modes with subwoofers, and I was lead to your very informative post Big Daddy that described about standing waves and etc. Thank you!!!! Those videos at axiom (or whatever it was) that you linked to were very helpful too (especially the multiple subwoofer one)! But now, very unfortunately to my wallet, after reading your post, I have discovered that I'm going to need two of these very expensive and heavy beastly things!!! Ugh!!!!! Soooo can't afford this... but I just can't accept the idea of having these null spots and such!

I added DST to the list of manufacturers.

Check the DIY Subwoofer/Speaker Building thread. I added a 12" Peerless aluminum driver to one of my cylindrical Hsu subwoofers. I took a chance when I replaced the old driver with the new Peerless driver. Surprsingly, it performs great.

after I put the driver I ordered in what should I call my new sub for my signature ~ The Big Daddy Dayton sub

And I hate to mention this but this morning I just happened to visit your Gallery & noticed this sub That ~ I Don't Think Belongs There

Call it the Big Daddy/CrazyBlue/Dayton subwoofer.

I believe in variety and color mismatch. As soon as the driver arrives, ship them to me. The new sub will have good company in my HT room.
