Future Shop is currently selling this model at a discounted price. It's the size of screen I've been wanting for over a year now, and it's actually less than my price range, or right on if I get a 3-4 year warranty along with it.

I have the 42 inch Aquos, and couldn't be happier. That is a great price.

Wow that is a really great deal. I've seen the 32" 1080p go for the same price. I say if it is what you were waiting for, then go for it.

I got the 32" Aquos 1080P which I think is the 64U, but I could be wrong. I absolutely love it. Not really any complaints with mine other than where the HDMI ports are located. But the TV itself is amazing and flawless.

Sharp does make a nice LCD (even though some on the board may say, "Yeah...but Samsungs are better."). I know for a fact that NBC uses Sharp TVs exclusively for all of their production, editing, and taping needs. Nice vote of confidence there.
Anyway, I have the 37' 1080p and I'm quite pleased. Got it a year ago for $800, brand spankin' new. Don't be jealous...

Wow, not really a single negative comment. That's the same result as Google for the most part. I read that some of them have banding issues, but just return it and get a new one if it happens on the one you get.
I'm going to head into the store tomorrow and see the TV in person, and possibly leave with it at the same time. |

I've never even heard of Visions. Sounds as though it could be a US chain, which in turn would not work for me.

I have the exact same 46" Sharp Aquos. I got it last year the day after thanksgiving at Circuit City for $1,299.99. I have been very happy with the TV and think it has one of the better pictures you can get for that price range. I would highly recommend one and I would buy it again.

Sig-less; it's just better that way.

I had a bad experience with sharp only because my t.v. had major banding. Until I knew what it was I loved the t.v. and the picture quality. Just make sure when you get it home to put on a gray screen to see if you have any black lines or shadows on the screen. If not than your good, if they are there than return your t.v. until you get one without the banding. I would research banding on the boards so you know what to look for. Good luck and enjoy.

In most cases, Rischoe, you are definitely correct. Companies will usually just negotiate the best deal possible and use that. However, here's my 'in-the-know' take on your two examples.
1 - With Monster products, I agree that in CE they are overrated and aren't any better than what you can find on Monoprice. However, many people in the music industry will tell you that they are very reputable in the music equipment cable arena. They do actually make some of the best quality cables in the industry. Now, not to say there are not other brands that are up there in quality as well, but Monster is quite trustworthy for making a quality music cable. 2 - NBC editors and production teams use Sharp TVs to, basically, create a quality product to deliver to America's screens. If they aren't doing so on quality screens on which they can pick out flaws and visual artifacts then they aren't delivering a good product. Their editing and prod. teams sit there for, literally, 10-12 hours at a time staring at these screens, attempting to deliver the best possible picture. NBC spent, at least, some time deciding which company to use based on quality delivered. Now, don't get me wrong...I assume the decisions do also factor in sponsorship and/or cost consideration as well, but when your delivered good's quality is, in part, a product of a used device, there's more to choosing a provider than monetary reasons.

I ended up taking the plunge, and I picked up the set today. AVS Forums doesn't have a specific calibration thread unfortunately, but I went with some settings I found there, however they were taken from CNET.
Haven't had any time to play around with it yet, just got home from work, and power was out earlier when I purchased it. I ended up with going open box, and paid $1600 after tax, including a full in-home service 4 year warranty. |

Picked mine up this afternoon as well! Man am I stoked. Upgrade from a 37" is astounding. Can't believe i lived with such a small set for so long. Futureshop gave me a great deal as well. Got the TV for $1049 plus 4 year service plan for $1480 tax in! Now I get to have some fun!
