Eragon is just a blatant attempt to cash in on what was a relatively successful book.

The similarities between the book and the movie end at the title. It's not just an issue of it being difficult to compress a book into two hours... I'll put it this way. Eragon is to fantasy book/movies as Daredevil was to comic book/movies.

Eragon was a horrible movie. Mostly aimed towards kids. The acting is cheesy at times. But if you have kids, I think kids would certainly enjoy it.

I love this movie! I am baffled by all the bad reviews this movie got. Okay the acting is maybe not the bestm but it is certainly not the worst and i thought the conversion to Blu was pretty awesome! Does anyone else here like this film? I hope they make a sequel!

I took my sons to see it. I thought it was pretty good. The special effects were very good. The story was OK. It looked to be set up for a part 2. I doubt we'll see it.

I wouldn't buy it on BD.

I liked it.

I think it could have been much better - they had 100 million to spend!

That said, my 2 sons just love Eragon and we bought it on DVD last year. Eventually we'll replace with the BD.

The books were great. Eragon and Eldest. The Third still hasnt been made.

The movies isnt terrible if you havent read the books. The movie was just so mediocre. They changed a lot from the books. It was also only an hour and a half. you rarely have decent book to movie translations in that amount of time.

I wonder how you pronounce the word "sence." You might be thinking of the word "scene"? I wouldn't mention it, but you did use it twice, so it seemed like you knew a word no one else knows.

Weird,

I didn't see any similarity to star wars.

My wife thought Lord of the Rings was exactly like Star Wars and tried to convince me of who was R2D2 and so on but,... I just didn't see it that way.

Put it this way. If you have never read the book well yes this film could be ok. However, having read the book, this movie just bites. They just took a few passages here and there of the book, slapped it together and spat out a film. The base of the story isn't even there. I actually had won a DVD copy in a local contest and I'm glad I did. I sold it on ebay the following week after seeing it.

Hopefully, "Eldest" will be hell of a lot better. Won't chance waisting cash at the theatres though. Think I'm gonna rent it whenever it comes out.

-Dragon grew up instantaneously in the movie, and it took some time in the book.

-Razac were being chased by Eragon and Brom. Not the other way around. The Razac dont persue until the second book, and its not Eragon but his cousin.

-In the book they go to this shipping city were they meet the witch. She makes predictions that are vital to Eragon. She doesnt appear in the movie until the end. I dont recall if she had a cat in the movie, but the cat is a werecat. The other city is important because it sets up plot points for the second book.

-The Urgals in the book are humanoid at best. They are all over 6 feet tall and more monster than human. They closely resemble what ogres should be from other fantasy novels. The movies had them as human looking.

-Never saw any dwarves with the Varden. They also live in the mountain.

-The Shade (durza or something) doesnt ride a black magic dragon. This was cooler than the book however. The final battle in the book is a little lackluster in comparison.

That all I can think of now.
