Sony KDL-42V4100 or KDL-40W4100

I can't decide which one to buy. The problem is that I really want it to be 42" and the KDL-40W4100 would exceed my price limit (1200$ incl. everything), so I don't know if the difference in picture quality is really that big.
KDL-42V4100 also supports 24p. Doesn't that mean that it should display with the same clarity as 120hz?
There's also KDL-46W4100 but it's beyond my budget and that size is probably a little overkill for a bedroom.
I'm gona use it for the usual like TV, BR and gaming.

ps.: I also have the Panasonic Viera TH-42PZ8 as a choice but heard it has some blurring issues and I much prefer LCD (especially Sony Bravia) anyway. Eco friendlier...

If you want the Sam Ln40a650 is on amazon for $1249 shipped and you would get the 120hz and also a better TV in my opinion.

The Sony Kdl40w4100 is $1279 shipped.

your budget is $1200 and going 50-70 over is not gonna kill you

if you dont want a Panasonic Plasma I would go with the Samsung 650

blur will not be an issue with plasmas. do not settle for a 60hz tv just because it is $100 cheaper.

Thanks, but how will the picture quality of the Panasonic be? I saw a 120Hz TV in BB that had this super realistic soap opera look on BR. Will this be similar?
Should I be worried about the 20,000:1 contrast ratio? I never watch movies in complete darkness so my eyes won't get fatigue and I'm confused as to why it doesn't have 24p.

btw doesn't Samsungs calculate Motion Plus in a strange/different way than Sony?

Plasmas do not have a problem with blur and have a different way of computing it.

No, plasmas are not generally 120hz. Most are 60hz.

But again, do not go by the refresh rate so much with an lcd. The response time is just as important, if not more so.

Just came back from Best Buy with mixed results. My favorite was definitive the Bravia XBR6 because of its sharp picture or maybe it just has a better demo set-up than the other TVs.
They had plenty of Panasonic Vieras but it either looked too corny, bright or dim. The HD channels looked blurrier while I prefer the sharper look of lcds, even though the contrast on these where yanked up to the point where everything looked absurdly unnatural.
At this point I'm gona decide between the Samsung LN40A650 and Panasonic Viera TH-46PZ80U. I tend more toward the Panasonic because of its unbeatable price/quality ratio but wished I could see it on a proper set-up. All I want is a clear picture that has this WOW effect, even for the average Joe, in film and games.
btw is it normal that BR movies always have a little bit of grain? I notice that on every TV and HD stuff I watch on my PC.

Both TV are really nice, you have to decide what is better for you, personally I like LCD's

That being said, the Plasma will have a slightly better picture once you get past the break in period and have it calibrated. LCD's are catching up to plasma PQ, but still haven't made it. Samsung make LCD's with great blacks and color representation, the panny will be a little better.

I would say at the end of the day whichever way your heart is telling you to go, that is the right choice. I think most people would agree that either way you are getting a very nice TV.

PS if you want a bigger TV, def. get the the panny.

Thanks, but I'm still a little concerned about burn-in after reading THIS. They say that you shouldn't play video games within the 100h (or roughly a month), but that won't be possible since I bought it because of this in the first place, so one of the first things I do IS playing video games
I was surprised to hear that CRT also suffers from this issue, since I never experienced something like that on any of my TVs.
