Silent Night Deadly Night ??

Has anyone seen this horror movie ? I loved it when it was on VHS years ago. Since they are putting out Black Christmas I think this is a great movie to have for all of us Blu Horror fans !

Yes! I agree man. Black Christmas ('74) is my favorite horror movie, and I love Silent Night, Deadly Night. Haha. It would be amazing if it came out on Blu.

Never heard of it. In fact, I thought this is the title Black Christmas was released under in Europe in 1974, just like the US title was changed to Stranger In The House.

I'm still waiting for the awful sequels to be released on regular old DVD. I love cheesy horror movies, and so far they've only released the first 2 movies on DVD. I want 3-5, dagnabbit!

As for the original being released on blu-ray, I'd get it as long as it's the uncut version.

You're thinking of Silent Night, Evil Night. Pretty similar title, no doubt. But, Black Christmas is a truly creepy movie in my opinion. Silent Night, Deadly Night is a cheesy Santa Claus slasher, lol.

Yes a guy in a Santa Claus suit that chops up people with an axe around Christmas time ! Truly one for the kids !

Black Christmas is a genre masterpiece.

Silent Night, Deadly Night is one of the campier holiday slashers.

There's a lot of other slasher movies I'd hope to see on blu-ray first...

My Bloody Valentine
Alice Sweet Alice
Cherry Falls
The Cottage
Severance

And despite a morbid curiosity to see the sequel in blu so I can hear Ricky scream "Garbage Day!" in 5.1 TrueHD surround sound, I'm not sure how much would be actually gained by giving us a 1080p transfer.

Like I said before, I'd be happy just getting parts 3-5 on DVD, let alone blu-ray. I never got to see Bill Moseley play Ricky in the reportedly horrible part 3. Sounds like fun to me. And then Clint Howard in 4 & 5. Imagine Clint in HD! He's the Clintiest!

I used to rent all these movies starting Dec 15th for years back in the late early 90's !!

Silent Night, Deadly Night 1 and 2 are the greatest cheese ball horror flicks ever made.

I remember watching this movie for the first time when I was probably 5 or 6 and being terrified. I've watched them all numerous times since then and love how bad they are. I haven't thought of these in years but might have to give it a rental.

Actually, Midnightsailor is correct. "Silent Night, Evil Night" is the alternate title for "Black Christmas". "Silent Night, Deadly Night" is a completely different movie.

Yes, watching old Santa hack people down with an axe at 5 or 6 would have an effect on ones life for a long time !

That sequence was originally done in the early 70s with joan collins playing the part in the tales from the crypt/vault of horror films.

The tales from the crypt tv series had taken their version from the older production .

Silent Night, Evil Night is definitely the alternate title. Heck... a previous DVD release even included the alternate opening sequences with the different title cards as an extra feature.

It looks pretty rough on DVD. I doubt they'd strike a new master for a Blu-ray release and since everyone is a critic - Anchor Bay/Starz would be ripped a new one over something they can't help (well they can clean up the dirt & grime, but the newly inserted/restored scenes are in really bad shape and can't be fixed).
