I wish Warner would release "Casablanca" as a movie alone for $19.99. I love this movie, but $40 plus is a bit much for this classic catalogue title.

Never ever say that Casablanca is a catalouge title! Its a more important film than say The Dark Knight! I agree that they should release it for around 29.99 but its not some bargin basement film.

For all the extras, $40 isn't too high. There are sets I want that are way more expensive, and out of my reach. I'm sure in a few months Amazon will have it for sale at a lower price.

I picked it up today (double-dip, already have the 2003 DVD) and just watched it and some of the special features.

Considering the clarity, the extras and the collectibles... I don't think this was too highly priced.

To fans of the film... highly recommended!

It's a catalog title by definition. I agree with the OP, WB should have released this without all the fluff for around $20. And WB can only wish it comes close to The Dark Knight's sales numbers.

I would buy it too but I don't want all the extras and it should sell for around $20 or less. Warner should have also used True-HD mono...such a waste.

Yeah I'm getting just beacuse it should be in a collection and I don't have it on DVD.

Hi - sounds like some of you have picked this up in stores? Could you tell me where? I'll be ordering online, but before I do, I wanted to take a physical look at it.

Also, I've read the product description of the extras, but for those of you that have it, is there anything else you can say about it? Is the 48-photo book really nice? Is it pics of movie stills or other pics?

I don't have a problem with the price, considering the extras.
But the box is ugly. That white and baby blue with "gold" trim makes this thing look like a box for ladies undergarments. Maybe a few die-cut bullet holes would have helped!

I believe this sold extremely poorly on HD DVD. Maybe they're trying to make up for that by giving us a $40 option only?

seriously, it will go down to 20 soon enough. look at the godfather trilogy, its down to 40 dollars now from 65 when it was released. give it some time.

The Godfather Trilogy is back up to $62 on Amazon. I think it was just temporarily on sale and not a permanent price drop. I'm regretting not getting it last weekend. Its hard to say that Casablanca will drop significantly in price, but I'll go on a limb and say $10 by Christmas. Though after Christmas it'll go back up in price as its 'Collector's Edition' with significant amount of extras.

Same could be said of TDK, wait awhile and you can pick it up for 8-10 bucks on Amazon since they are so going to over press the hell out of these things.
