Default rainbowing effect on rear projection TVs

Hey everyone,

My my outside sales lady asked me about their rear projection tv and it is showing the picture and then around the image like a rainbowing effect of red and green. it jsut started and is always there she says, and more of an issue on the left side of the TV. This is a Misubishi, 48".?

Can this be fixed with a new bulb or is it dying or what??

Thanks Peeps.

It's not really a fixable problem.

Yeah, if YOUR eye can see it, then you will probably see it in any single-chip DLP design. If you want to have a DLP TV, then get an LED based TV. It is supposed to eliminate the “rainbow effect.” I had a problem seeing them too, until I viewed the model that I now own at Best Buy. Problem solved.

I don't always see it, but only when there is fast action on the screen or when there is a lot of contrast in the picture and I move my eyes around. Like other posters said, If you can see it now you will always see it. I am the only one in my family that sees it and I can live with it most of the time.

Same here...if i look at one corner of the screen then quickly shift to another side/corner, I can see it also. It doesn't seem very common though, most people don't notice it.

I guess for her and her BF, it surrounds the image. I guess like if you are looking at a dog on TV, there is the dog, and then around the dog is a red halo and a green halo

should be.

have her call tech support and see what they say. if its still under warranty i think it would fall under that category as being fixable by the manufacturer.

an exact model # for the tv would help us on the forums tremendously.

yeah, she doesn't know what model number, and she thinks it about 5 yrs old. she said they tried the convergence, but said it would only move up and down not left or right.
