UPDATES:

Update Aug 11

Some more news broke today from MTV:

EXCLUSIVE: Hugh Jackman Hints At 2012 Release For 'Wolverine 2,' The 'Sexiest' X-Men Film Yet

That's all we need, a SEXY Wolverine story. Don't they get it? Wolverine needs Grit!

Quote:
With Hugh Jackman in the early stages of developing a sequel to "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" that will take the clawed hero to Japan, one has to wonder if the live-action adaptation of Frank Miller and Chris Claremont's celebrated story arc will be as dark as its source material.

When we caught up with Jackman during this weekend's Teen Choice Awards, we asked him if fans should expect the darkest X-Men movie yet in "Wolverine 2."

"Parts of that story were pretty dark. I don’t know if it’s the darkest, but I'm going to go out on a limb right now and say I think it will be the sexiest," Jackman told MTV News. "There’s some female companionship—and not just one—for Wolverine. ... My wife might have an issue with it, but I think the fans will like it."

Of course, with all this talk of what the "Wolverine" sequel will entail, there's still the question of when we're likely to see it hit theaters. While Jackman couldn't offer any firm details, he did hint at a potential release in 2012.

"If you look at the history [of the X-Men movies], it’s been every three years—three years exactly," he teased. "So that might give you a good hint."

What do you think of the "Wolverine" sequel featuring the "sexier" side of the ol' Canucklehead, bub?
You can follow the link above to see video of Hugh Jackman talking about it.

-------------------------------------------

Not too long ago, Hugh Jackman weighed in about a possible Wolverine sequel saying he would like it to follow the Frank Miller miniseries that takes place in Japan. Now Cinema Blend has info from one of their scoopers on Fox's Wolverine 2 plans:
Quote:
Hugh Jackman has already talked about his willingness to keep playing the character of Wolverine as long as fans want him, but until now there’s been no talk of actually turning his upcoming Wolvy solo movie, X-Men Origins: Wolverine into a full-fledged, Wolverine based franchise. Tonight though I talked a bit with one of Cinema Blend’s most reliable, proven scoopers who had tons of information for us on what Fox may be planning for Wolverine’s future.

According to our source, Fox isn’t waiting around to see how the solo movie performs. They’re already in talks to make multiple Wolverine sequels happen, and they’re tossing around story ideas for the almost inevitable Wolverine 2. Word is that the character they’re hoping to use as the villain of Wolverine 2 is someone named Cyber. In the X-Men universe, he’s sort of like Wolverine’s equal and opposite. Like Wolverine he’s Canadian and possesses most of the same powers as Wolverine. He has an Adamantium skin, claws, mutant healing ability, and so on. The villain of the first movie, Liev Schreiber, may also be back for the sequel as Sabretooth; but if they’re bringing in Cyber then he obviously won’t be the only villain.
They also go on to say that they are planning on a Wolverine cameo in X-Men: First Class.

im just stoked to finally see gambit.

My name is Patrick Bateman. I'm 27 years old.
I believe in taking care of myself and a balanced
diet and rigorous exercise routine. In the morning,
if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while
doing stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now.

Fox seems very confident. Good sign for the first Wolverine coming out next year.

I've never been a big fan of the X-Men movies or the X-Men period for that matter. Even as a kid. Lets see if the next one that comes out will change my mind.

So far they've only gotten 3 or 4 characters right in the whole X franchise. It's too bad really.

I agree with you 100%. The worry I have is they are jamming about 430 new mutant characters into this one as well.

Yup, that's the issue. I still don't understand why Gambit is in this one and wasn't in X2...

Still I hate the fact that they made Rogue so shit, they should have given her Ms Marvel's powers in the first movie and introduced Gambit in the second one as a new love interest like it should be!

Are you my long lost brother? Are you reading my mind? lol. Those are MY thoughts!

Gambit OWNES.

I was thinking that they needed to have rogue get ms marvels powers in number 1 as well.. when she ran away she could have made a quick stop by mystiques... I HATE that they've taken the strongest character and turned her into HOLLYWOOD'S version of a "girl."

Default Development Has Begun for Wolverine 2.

hey,

Development has begun to bring Wolverine 2 to the Big Screen.

Quote:
We’ve known more or less for certain that another Wolverine movie was happening and that it could well take place in Japan. Over the weekend, while appearing at the Teen Choice Awards, Hugh Jackman said on stage that Wolverine would be heading to Japan, and then gave MTV a few more quotes backstage. “Japan is where we’re heading,” he said, “[and] we’re starting to work on it now. We’re in the … first steps of developing that story.”

The first movie stunk, worst X-Men film to date and horrible hero to base a movie around. I have no idea what Marvel is thinking. Oh yeah, count me in for seeing this in theatres for sure.
