Dances with Wolves - Blu-ray Forum

Anyone got Dances with Wolves from Amazon.de? Anyone know if it will work with an region (specifically a PS3 Region A)?

How is the quality? And what about subtitles? I am a standard USA English viewer.

My information from another thread is that it is the extended cut and it has an option to show English subtitles just for the Lakota dialogue, which is all good.

is there any word on a UK release? I could play the German release.. but the cover doesnt look to be in english.. are the disc menu's in english or german?

I have an unopened copy if you want to buy it from me for $35 (that includes shipping). I am in the USA.

I don't know about the menus, but I do know that the audio can be in English, and Indian subtitles are separate from the the normal subtitles and can be in English as well. I have heard that the PQ is excellent.

PM me if you want it. I have a PS3 therefore I can't play it.

Menus are in German, but it's easy to understand the wordage.

Features a great 7.1 DTS HD track in English and subtitles that only pop-up during the Indian language. The imagery is top-notch with amazing widescreen photography.

I only wish the disc provided the option to select the original theatrical version. The extended version is too preachy.

Fox will provide two version with The Passion of Christ the parent company of MGM. But, for some reason MGM has been the biggest disappointment of releasing featureless Blu-rays except for the BOND FILMS.

I have this BD and I found the DTS details shown on the box a little confusing. The disc has two DTS HD audio tracks, i.e. the original English language track and a dubbed German track. The box shows two DTS HD logos, i.e. DTS HD High Resolution and DTS HD Master Audio. Only the latter is truly lossless. It is not projected to be released at least for the next 6 months. Upon talking to them the girl gave me an email address so that I could express my wish for a blu-ray release. I have already emailed them but wanted to give this out to others to contact them as well. The address is foxdrop@4icc.com. Perhaps if they receive tons of emails about this they might re-think about releasing this film.

I don't know why Fox won't release this soon. It's a classic and has millions of fans across the world, I'm sure. I would love for this to be released relatively soon.

I own this BD, even the box and menu show DTS HD 7.1, actually both the english and german tracks are lossless. When I play it on my BD50 + Denon3808, it shows DTS HD MA 7.1

There is a version in The Netherlands expected by A Film. Details are unknown at this stage (incl. region coding), but probably it has a DTS HD MA 16 bit track, and no extra features.

This is coming out on the 15th april in france along with Open Range the same day, through Fox Pathe Europe so quite likely to be region locked as well.

I heard there was a glitch on the German release, either the English or the Deutche DTS HD audio, the LFE was not present... literally no LFE, not just quit, no LFE.

If anyone with this BD could verify this, you might need to actually put your ear to your sub to verify this.

LOSSLESS audio... something that belongs on EVERY Blu-ray Disc. Every one. Warner and Paramount: take a lesson. If it's not 1.5 screen widths, it's not "Home Theater" -it's TV.
