Default Trying to give a blu-christmas...

I am trying to get everything I need together for a Christmas present and am figuring out that I need cables. My father is normally my tech guy but the only cables he ever buys are Monster and I just can't justify spending that much money on a cable.

I have a panasonic bd-35 waiting to be unwrapped along with 20+ blu's. I would like to have the proper cables to go along with it. I was reading another thread about cables but got confused as it started talking about 1.1 cables and I have no idea what that is.

The tv is a samsung. I think it said the model number was lns2651d but I was trying to not get caught trying to look at the back of the tv using my cell phone as a flashlight so I could be totally wrong. I tried to look at the set up with the ps3 and the other tv but I couldn't get behind the tv.

I would really love any help as I do not like the idea of giving a gift that requires the recipient to go out and spend money to make it work (hence the 20+ blu's).

Thank you to anyone that helps!

Wow, badass present! Well the best cable to get for HD media is an HDMI cable, and yes, don't buy the Monster Cable. Go to monoprice.com for all of your cable needs, anyone on this site will tell you the same thing. They're really cheap and very high quality

An HDMI monster cable will run around $80 and up, which is ridiculous. You'll get the same performance out of a $7 HDMI cable from monoprice

If he's gonna rag you about them not being Monster cables, I have seen some sites advertising "Monster" cables for a fraction of the cost. Maybe accessories4less.com? Look around because I remember them saying Monster HDMI cable normally "89.99" our price 14.99. If they ARE Monster then that might be a good alternative.
Best option: Monoprice.com

Thanks, does anyone know if it is regular HDMI, Hdmi 1.3, or hdmi/dvi? I have no idea what these are and that was mostly what I'm confused on. Thank you so much for your replies!

I believe I just read that I need an SD card for the blu-ray live to work as well. How big should this be and on top of that is there anything else I need? Thanks so much for help!

1gb is the spec for BD-live. You can go higher, just means you'll have more storage.
Don't think you'll need anything else.

Who is the present for? Completely off-topic, I'm just curious

I don't use BD live, (despite having the capability) and in case you were curious, it's certainly NOT needed to watch blu-rays.... just an "extra feature" that some (like me) don't find any value in.
