Technically, my first Blu ray was 1408 (based on the short story by Stephen King, which I've read three times), but since it has the same bonus features on it that the 2-disc Collector's Edition DVD (which I found for about $7.00 when I heard there was an alternate ending), I gave it away, so the 5-disc Limited Edition 3D Blu ray/DVD combo for On Stranger Tides will be my first Blu ray (that I hold on to).
My first DVD was the 2-disc widescreen theatrical version of The Two Towers, my favorite in the LOTR franchise (but not because of Legolas. Frankly, I don't care for Orlando's characters in Pirates or LOTR), which I also gave away when the Extended Edition came out.
"Ladies, will you please shut it! Listen to me. Yes, I lied to you. No, I don't love you. Of course it makes you look fat. I've never been to Brussels. It is pronounced E-GREE-JOUS. By the way no, I never actually met Pizzaro but I love his pies. And all of this pales to utter insignificance in light of the fact that my ship is, once again, gone. Savvy?" - Capt. Jack, AWE

My first DVD that I purchased was before I had a DVD player.
It was 2001: A Space Odyssey. The first DVD that I purchased after buying a DVD player, was Alien. I bought my blu-ray player on Nov. 20th, 2010 at Best Buy, and also purchased Scenic National Parks: "Great Train Rides" and "Glacier Banff and Jasper". Over that 2010 Thanksgiving weekend, I purchased Goldfinger and The Sound of Music. Unfortunately, I did not change the "Date Added" dates to the Blus that I originally had put on My Wish List, in my Community "Collection". So the date I actually purchased them and then moved them to the Own list is not known...Only the date that they were orginally added to any "list" is initally logged, by default.
The eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear with hearing.

My first DVD was: Goldeneye. It was before the family had a DVD player. The cover was the good ole cardboard flap.
I remember DVDs used to come out before tapes. I think that's something they should do for blu-rays. My first blu-ray was: The Happening |

My first DVD was in 2003, "Gladiator" - my dad bought it.
The first one I bought with my OWN money was Reservoir Dogs as a freshman in college in 2005. The first Blu-ray I bought was "Casino Royale" on the same day I bought my first BDP in Oct of 07. Good times.

The first DVD I bought was the first season of Friends and the first movie I owned was Serendipity. And that was before I even had a DVD player.
The first Blu-Ray movies I bought were Semi-Pro and The Simpsons Movie. Once again I didn't have a Blu-Ray player when I bought them! |
