I would prefer the English dub, which was done when they filmed it and blends perfectly. Daniel Craig does the main actors work. The HD DVD version has both and the DTS-HD mix is incredible. I use the shootout in the glass house as a demo quite often.

Quick question, 'Region A' means North America (and Japan), correct? As a US resident, if I buy this from Canada, it will work in my player? Correct?
I'm thinking of ordering Renaissance and Defendor from Amazon.ca, since neither film currently has a domestic release in the US. And want to be sure they are compatable. I enjoyed Renaissance a lot on DVD, I hope high-def makes it really pop. FAKE EDIT: Oh, and the Canadian edition of Renaissance has English dubbing correct? |

There is no English or French subtitles. Two audio tracks, English DTS HD MA and French DD.

Oh. Well that's cool then.
something I have wondered about Renaissance though. It was made in France right? I assumed that was the case, and tried watching it in French, with subtitles on my DVD copy. But the lip syncing was all wrong, so I switched it back to English. Is it's original Dub english? Or did they redo the lip sync just for the US market? |

Belated answer, but anyway...
Yes it's a French film and the original dialogs are written in French, but like most French animated movies and video games, the lipsync is actually synchronised with the translated script. It's 'easier' to export that way.

Well that's interesting. Thanks for getting me an answer, because I've still been scratching my head over it.

Apparently, Best Buy got an exclusive on this (for a while), as I just bought it there today for $5.99. No French, just English 5.1 Dolby Digital, DTS, and 2.0 stereo. Also a making of feature. Echo Bridge put it out for Miramax.

You know, I'm not sure I mind it not having French track. Because I tried listening to it in French, but the lip sync was all wrong? I guess it was animated in English, even being a French movie? EDIT2: Oh wait. I got this question answered 2 years ago. Literally two posts up from here. EDIT: Apparently there is a double pack with Equilibrium as well? Has anyone seen this anywhere? Original is 2.35:1 and the original Canadian Alliance disc has this AR. The double feature from EB lists a 1.78:1 AR so I'm wondering if the single release fixes that. |
