Out of all the BDs I have Casino Royale is not in my collection. I wanna buy it but I'm not sure of which on to get since I keep getting mixed reviews. Any help in picking an edition will be greatly appreciated.

I moved and most of my equipment stayed in a storage unit. I'm now in New York living in a one bedroom apartment and this is what I have:
Living room: Pioneer Elite HDTV, AsRock Vision 3D HTPC, Pioneer Elite BD player, Pioneer receiver, Energy speakers, and Yamaha subwoofer. Bedroom: LG HDTV and Panasonic BD player. |

I regret getting the 2-disc North American version since we still have an edited cut(slightly). Check out other territories & which cuts are present. Just odd that an action film nowadays gets edited in the US & Canada.
1921 DVDs,
916 Blu-rays, 175 HD DVDs, 37 Laserdiscs & counting... |

depends...if "special features" are important to you then get the new two disc one...if you dont watch the special features then save some money and get the original.
as for the audio...its really peoples preference and you'll hear some people say the first audio track is better and some say the second is better...but the difference (if any) is negligible so make your decision based on the special features and whether you want them or not |

I live in Australia so I obviously got the unedited edition. I got the collectors edition because I originally got the standard 2 disc DVD. And I wanted the new special features.

The original had a special feature titled "The women of Bond". Looks like this was left off the newer collectors edition. Is this true? |

Go for the 2-disc edition.
I've had both and I prefer the 2-disc collection. I prefer it for the featurettes on Casino Royale and the Bond character through the years. While the P-I-P is kinda weak, it's nice to know it's there. As for the film itself, I prefer the 2-disc version. While the picture quality is comparative (seems there is a bit less grain to me in the new version) I hear a qualitative upgrade in the 24 bit Truehd over the 16bith PCM. I hear more detail with the Truehd. |

What's different in the uncut version? I'm guessing more action?

False. It's still on there. It has all the old special features as well as a bunch of new ones, and also includes two commentaries. Get the new one. The NA is barely edited.

I originally had the Casino Royale Blu-ray with the PCM track, and loved it with a passion. But now, I've since sold it for the new 2-disc collector's edition with the Dolby TrueHD track and never looked back. Plus the new edition has a Bond trivia game to test your memory of all the Bond movies, past and present (with the exception of Quantum of Solace, which isn't on Blu-ray yet).
So I wholeheartedly recommend the 2-disc edition of Casino Royale. And here's a little heads up: If you decide to purchase the Blu-ray at Best Buy, both editions will have a $29.99 price tag. So the choice is yours, VDogger.

Let's be realistic. More blu-ray versions of this movie will come out when the newer 100gb blu-rays come out. When the 500gb blu-rays come out, we should start to see uncompressed video accompanying uncompressed audio. I'm also starting to hear rumors of 1 terabyte blu-rays in experimental stages. When these newer blu-ray's eventually happen, studios will milk this and re-issue a lot of movies hoping consumers will rebuy a movie. I can't imagine what will come after blu-ray and how studios will take advantage. Save your movie is my point. Something better is always coming. |

Lots of good info here. So far I'm leaning toward the new special edition. I'm interested in the 24bit TrueHD sound over the 16bit uncompressed.
I would get a foreign version, but I hate to have to wait for stuff to come in the mail. I may pick it up from Suncoast, I get semi-decent deals there with my Suncoast Backstage Pass.
