It was a good film Great perfomances from everyone especially Christian Bale and Woody Harrelson. Woody is one of those rare actors that vaulted from television to appearing in high profile movies.

I think Woody should get the Best Supporting Actor for his role in Out Of The Furnace. He was scary. I remember when he sang the "Kelly" song on Cheers and now he's a homicidal hillbilly.

I agree on Harrelson, I remember when I thought he was just a one-note Sandler actor but now I see his range and versatility and I also hope he wins an Oscar soon.
RIP Navster, you were someone I considered a friend and BD.com will always remember you.

I thought this was pretty good, but not a great film. It was an acting showcase to be certain, though and I found the performances very compelling. It was well shot and edited. I just found the actual story to be kind of pedestrian. I would recommend everyone see it though.

I very much agree. Good for the sake of the cast, and their respective efforts, but it felt rather hollow overall. Still, I will certainly be getting this eventually. Just in no rush.

From what I've seen so far in 2013, this is my favorite film of the year. Absolutely stunning. I traded in a bunch of old blu-rays I didn't want at MovieStop the other day, so I managed to pay this off entirely, along with 'You're Next,' and I picked up 'Prisoners.' Bring on March 11th.

NEWS/TRAILER
http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=13010

Quote:
Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release on Blu-ray director Scott Cooper's crime thriller Out of The Furnace (2013), starring Christian Bale, Casey Affleck, Zoe Saldana, Woody Harrelson, Sam Shepard, Willem Dafoe, Forest Whitaker, and Dendrie Taylor. From Scott Cooper, the critically acclaimed writer and director of Crazy Heart, comes a gripping and powerful drama about family, fate, circumstance and justice. Russell Baze (Bale) leads a dead-end life he works a meaningless steel mill job all day, and cares for his terminally ill father at night. When Russell's brother Rodney (Affleck) returns home from Iraq, he is lured into one of the Northeast's most ruthless crime rings and mysteriously disappears. When the police fail to solve the case, Russell puts his life at risk in order to seek justice for his brother.

I felt the same way. I was okay but was very predictable.
