I bought my wife a Louis Vuitton purse on our last trip to San Diego to silence her concerns about my new AVR. And a matching wallet to ensure my future purchases get approved. Bad part is my gear costs me twice as much. Fair is fair. If you spend a grand on yourself, spend a grand on her. Hiding receipts and gear is too much headache.

Hey Brent! Probably no movie today. I'll be watching the race soon. And at some point today my friend is supposed to come over and help me install the power drop for the projector. Not sure about how that will go, though, as I'm ready to get started now and I can't get hold of him.

I watched one of the night races on it. Remember I don't have total light control in the room during the day. So this one will be on the LCD. If it doesn't get rained out.

I hear ya on the rain . Hopefully it will at least go half way so they don't have to finish it tomorrow . Big track to try to dry .

So Paul, you still have light in the room even if the blinds or curtains are shut?

I eliminated that by taking Blackout curtains & tacking them directly to the wall around the window opening . With everything off the room is pitch black , you can't see anything

Yes, they're not blackout curtains. They let a little bit of light through. Plus the living room opens into the hall that goes to the rest of the house. I'd have to put up blackout curtains in the rest of the house (including my front door) in order to get it dark enough to not lose quality. It's not a big deal. The LCD looks great too. And I can still switch the projector mode to Dynamic to watch under those conditions. Color and light aren't an issue with that mode, but black levels take a big hit.

In any event, my friend is on his way over right now to put in the power drop. I'll mostly be listening to race anyway (if they even get it in - weather looks nasty there).

See you guys later!

Have fun Paul . I put my new bulb in the PJ this morning so I am going to see how the pic is compared to the bulb with 2,250 hours on it .

No Eric . I was reading earlier about how someone else that had a PJ was at about 2,200 hours on his Bulb . He had been noticing a decrease in picture quality for the last 100 hours & he had his PJ from when it was new .

I got my PJ at about 1,800 hours on the bulb , So I want to see how much better the Image is with a new bulb .

Give him a pat on the back and tell your neighbor he's awesome, lol. Yeah, I kind of joined a Camaro forum, but realized this was my home, so I'm back. Again. lol. But since I really have nothing new of my own (and won't have anytime soon) - I'm just here in an advisory role now.
