U2-rattle And Hum

anyone here has it? hows the PQ and AQ? i don't own the DVD, so im thinking of getting this.

I have it, have only watched it in 1080i, but the PQ and AQ are very good for that, IMO...if you are a U2 fan, it's a must buy (At least it was for me!)

I have both DVD and BD, the BD is better in both aq and pq but nowhere near excellent. But since I'm a big U2 fan I just had to have it.

I just watched it on cable in 1080i. I thought it looked quite good. I never did think it was a bad movie. If you are a fan..I would get it.

Being a HUGE U2 fan here I say go it! 3/4 of the movie was filmed in black and white and adds a unique "feel" to the movie that captures the different moods of the band. The AQ/PQ transfers are excellent for a 20 yr old movie. Run-don't walk to get it.

I have owned Rattle & Hum on VHS (twice), DVD, download (iPod), and now Blu-ray. This movie never was and never will be a picture quality reference film, but it's never looked better on Blu. The audio (most important imho, considering this is a music film) is fantastic, especially the DTS mix. To sum up, as stated earlier by other posters, if you are a U2 fan (or fanatic like me!), this is a no-brainer.

When filming they turned the grain knob to 11 to get that special look.

If you understand that and know why its there then go for it.

If you're one of those folks that think Blu should eliminate grain then I'd avoid.

The AQ is the best that piece of work has ever sounded.

I havent watched it for a while,but i don't know that it sounds a whole lot better than the dvd.I suppose its somewhat improved,but would be better if it was lossless audio.I'm really stoked for the new U2 blu ray,that will hopefully look and sound awesome.

I've owned the VHS, laserdisc & DVD and would like to pick up the BD. At $22.49, this should be an easy decision for me but I'd like the price to come down or at least know that the AQ is solid. I've seen this film dozens of times and finally have a system that can do it justice.

I recently watched U2 360 on BD and it is, by far, the best concert film I've seen. I have all of U2's concert films on DVD and they pale in comparison to 360. I ended up watching the film on the very night I was supposed to be at the concert in SoCal. It was a tiny consolation and made up slightly watching on my AV system with the volume turned to 11.

If you've seen 360, let me know what you think.

I have this on BD. It is good but would have preferred lossless audio. The DTS mix is great but always have DTS-MA in the back of my mind.

I was looking at buying the UK or German versions and was wondering if they are locked to Region B or will they play in the US?

Couldn't really say, but note that U2 has been re-releasing their entire catalog in remastered form over the last couple of years, and the sets for UNDER A BLOOD RED SKY, THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE, THE JOSHUA TREE and ACHTUNG BABY have all come with remastered DVD goodies. 2013 is the 25th anniversary of RATTLE AND HUM...perhaps a badly needed remastered (and, dare I dream, extended?) Blu-ray of R&H will appear at that time? I wonder...hope...dream...pray...

DTS Master Audio please? DVD DTS is not good enough.

Thanks Filmmaker. I'll go along with your guess and wait for a remaster. I had been waiting for this to go on sale. I ordered it a few days ago from one of the Amazon partners, and today they emailed that they were canceling the order. Its been a few years since I watched this, since my LD player died. It seems to early in the BD era for anything to be going out of print. But it would be just my luck

The studio brass should be beaten with 2 by 4's, for releasing this without 7.1 uncompressed PCM audio.
I already own this on DVD, but would never buy the BD without lossless audio.

Rattle and Hum is on sale on UK amazon for 8 pounds. My copy just arrived and seems to work well in my US player.
