As 2009 is the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, I hope this will be a suitable pretext for the following Blu-rays to be released around July time:
The Right Stuff (Warner) Apollo 13 (Universal) (OK this one was in 1970, but let's stretch a point!) From The Earth To The Moon (HBO mini-series)
Panasonic Blu-ray players BD65 (UK model), BD75 (Multi-region US model), Denon 2930 DVD player (multi-region), Pioneer CLD1080 LD player, Panasonic EX77 recorder, Denon 3808 receiver, Panasonic 46PZ80 TV, 5.1 speaker system: KEF Reference Model 3 (fronts), KEF Model 200C (centre), Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 (surrounds), SVS SB12-Plus (sub)

My avatar will Wait Until Dark for a Roman Holiday since this world as War & Peace and it would be fun to actually have Breakfast At Tiffany's with My Fair Lady http://letterboxd.com/pat_mtl/ |

Hear, Hear for the first post. As a person who's always been interested in the space program, I have loved all of these movies mentioned. I held off buying Apollo 13 on HD DVD hoping it would be released on BD soon. From Earth to the Moon is still a fantastic mini-series, one that i watch on DVD at least twice a year.
Telling my age a bit, but i remember vagely watching the Neil Armstrong moon walk in kindergarten, and have been following the space program most of my life. Even drank Tang because the astronauts did....lol. And as Tom Hanks says at the end of From Earth to the Moon, "why haven't we gone back?". Here's hoping the rumors that we're finally going to land on the moon again are true. |
