I'm not claiming their wrong, but those don't look like BD's to me! Is that just a generic photo?

I looked at the BD I received and this looks to be in the BD-R/RE format which Sony supposedly supports in the latest firmware update (2.00).

Another note... I looked at my packaging from Amazon and it was shipped from their Returns Center! Ha! It looks like I got somebody else's reject. This one may be going back also.
