YES! I hope the transfer is impressive! Been waiting for this back when Paramount announced it before they went HD-exclusive. I've got it on DVD but it's well-worth the upgrade. Too bad it's Paramount and won't have DTS. The sound/music is what made the movie.

The music on the DVD was kind of muffled. I hope they did something to improve the audio quality. I love that movie!

Wow this is great I have been waiting for this one to be announced, I know it's gonna be a good one to own. Except there's something missing here, Staying Alive, needs to come to Blu-ray, that's the one I'm more excited about. I know it;s not a good sequel, but you can't really deny that it has great music and is definitely an eye full (in color) toward the end. It still holds a lot more than that to my appeal. and so the Saturday Night Fever Blu-ray is the first step at hinting a Staying Alive Blu-ray. Overall great news.

Watched it earlier today and thought it looked and sounded good. It was nice to see a lot of the extras being in hi-def also. In one of them, I was surprised to learn that one of the Bee Gees (can't remember his name at the moment) kind of discovered his falsetto voice by accident.

Default wait for it?

I want this but I would want a Saturday Night Fever / Grease / Urban Cowboy bluray collection even more. The three iconic films for their respective generations / subcultures. Please come out with it movie bosses!!!

Hey kids, been meaning to post this sweet tidbit of news the past week.

Last weekend there was a screening here in Vancouver of WarGames with John Badham I attendance. Afterwards I went to tell him how much I loved Saturday Night Fever to which he informed me that he just finished overseeing a new 4K restoration with colours and sound finally to his complete satisfaction.

He also said some new footage has been added that he says haven't been in the film before aside from possibly some TV versions.

Anyways, thought I'd share! New 4K restoration is on its way!

Nice! Hopefully "Stayin' Alive" reverts to its original edit in the opening sequence as well. The previous remastered version comes in at the wrong place in the song and is just off throughout during Manero's walk.

Saturday Night Fever is one of my top 20 favorite films and this is great news. I've been waiting for this extended version ever since he mentioned it on the dvd/blu ray commentary.

I'm a big fan of Saturday Night Fever as well and this is great news...

now if we can just get Badham to come to his senses and release a full color version of 79's DRACULA then the entire world would be a better place!

I have to disagree about the music on the DVD, unless the one I own -- the 25th Anniversary Edition -- was remixed by some chance; the Dolby Digital 5.1 presentation of this soundtrack (on DVD) really floored me and still does, especially in places such as the dance contest (this film was a favorite of mine, as well, being that I grew up in New York and always loved the soundtrack) wherein "If I Can't Have You" by Tavares is spread aggressively through the soundstage with some extended horns and reverb in the surround channels.

Do parts of the track show the film's vintage? Sure. But after coming off VHS copies of the film with un-restored Dolby stereo stems, the DVD always impressed me.

Now THIS sounds like good news and something to maybe upgrade my DVD for -- a 4K restoration could really make the colors of this film pop, and the sound, if improved, could be interesting.

Badham was also great on Blue Thunder, a mainly forgotten awesome '80s thriller about a futuristic helicopter; Badham did that, too, but most will remember him for Saturday Night Fever.
