Default Can't Decide... KDL-40Z4100/TH-42PZ85U

So, I've found both TVs are similarly priced and I've finally saved up to get my first HDTV. However I can't decide between the:

Panasonic TH-42PZ85U
and the
Sony KDL-40Z4100

Both have nice features and are just the right size.
I'd be doing some gaming and a lot of Blu watching.

Anyone have an experience with them?

Thanks!!

At my job we have the 40z and the 46z on display, i have always been a fan of the Z series, technically on paper its pretty much the same as the xbr6. I have seen blu ray, high def and SD on it and it always impresses me. Keep an eye out for the new Z series in spring. (240 hz- overated in my opinon, and bravia engine 3 vs bravia engine 2)

Let me give you a bit more info, the room is rather small (10'x15'). The two sizes aren't really that different and don't concern me.

And I see that some of you are adament about one or the other, but why?

Thanks

the 10 bit screen on the sony makes all the colors stand out, not like the fake look that people talk about, but real life color. There are details in the movies that we never noticed with our other tv, and it was a really nice tv, had a nice picture it was a 1080p, but the Sony has more WOW factor.

The room will play a part in determining which is more suited to you. If your room has lots of windows and is bright even with the curtains closed you will be better off with the LCD, if on the other hand you can darken the room enough the plasma will be better. Ultimately there are fans of both - i have to have LCD because of the light coming into the room but i do like the colours on a plasma - try and view them both side by side if possible. Either of them is a fine TV and you won't be disappointed whatever you choose.

Hope that helps

If you have a nice, dark room, I must say you have to go Plasma. It has a much better native contrast ration and you don't have to worry about backlight Uniformity issues. Definitely take the time to decide what you want. If you don't like one when you take it home, return it and try the other one.

Not at all. People who say this are usually unable to afford one...

I say this and I don't own a Sony TV (for the first time in ages!), Pioneer and Samsung right now, though I heard the XBR8/X4500 is getting price cuts to make way for the G2 RGB LED TVs around June/July...
Free at last...
