Happy to see some love for that film! It's my favorite Soderbergh too.

With some many other titles yet to be released in the format (Traffic already has a release by Universal), it just isn't fair .
I'm not usually one for complaining about what Criterion releases - if I don't want it, I just don't buy it.
In this case, I'm a big fan of Soderbergh, but don't care too much for Traffic.
However, releasing a film that is recently released on blu-ray seems absurd.

The cheapest I could find it was $15 at HMV. Still a good price, but where did you find it for $5?

I'm pretty sure I can order a new case with the artwork for $5 from Criterion, $6 +tax for a great very rare oop HTF blu-ray, I can live w/out the booklet!
update, used a lint free cloth and and the fingerprints wiped easily off, after that it looked like new!
popped the disc in and it works like a charm!

I've found the Hopscotch Criterion DVD earlier last week also for $2 at the same Goodwill, that one was near mint and complete!

you do realise that Amazon.com has Criterion cheaper than Amazon.ca even with the exchange on the dollar and shipping costs, right?

also, b&n is great for their sales, it's so much cheaper to buy from them and the US Amazon if you're Canadian.

I was revisiting several Criterion DVD's this weekend. After watching mon oncle. antoine again, I have confirmed that the film is one of my favorite Criterions. Does anyone here enjoy this film, and does this film stand a decent chance of getting a Blu-ray upgrade in the not too distant future?

The countdown to Island of the Lost Souls is almost finished.

Absurd is more common than ever. See Fear & Loathing & Dazed & Confused. At least with D&C, the CC announcement came before the Universal street date. I did get to invest way more time in cancelling/returning a less than 15 dollar blu-ray than you would ordinarily think worthwhile.
US/UK films that need to be on blu-ray:My Darling Clementine (1946, Ford), Out of the Past (1947, Tourneur), Thunderheart (1992, Apted) , Lone Star (1996, Sayles)

Foreign films that need to be on blu-ray:
Raise The Red Lantern (1991, Zhang), The Best of Youth (2003, Giordana), Still Life (2006, Jia), 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days (2007, Mungiu)

Studio Canal decided not to renew Criterion's distribution rights for as many of its catalog titles as it could, so that they could make more money doing it themselves (via Lionsgate in the U.S.). Wonder how well that deal's been working out for them?

Membership at B&N? Also, will this work for online shopping as well?

Don't know, but the fact that many Studio Canal titles are not available (The ones they took from Criterion) is a real bummer. I think they would have been making a lot more money right now if Criterion still holded the rights.

Yes, the membership extends to online discounts as well. Although, I've never heard of this trial membership. In my experience, the membership hasn't been worth the cost to me because I only buy from them during these such sales, and I'd at most be only saving the money I spent on the membership (Their membership costs what, about 25?)

Yeah, I'm not going to worry about the membership. Does B&N accept Bill Me Later (PayPal) online?
