I saw someone say wishlist and felt like I should say mine for no apparent reason:

The Bad Sleep Well or Throne of Blood
Band of Outsiders
Youth of the Beast
The BRD trilogy
The Cranes are flying

I know they're pretty obvious but whatever, this is just a meaningless list anyway.

Not enough of a fan of Hitchcock to bother with that set. I already have North By Northwestand the only other Hitchcock I would want from that set would be The Birdsand I will hope for a single release later on.

I also gve in, I ordered the DVD set The Student Comedies (The Ozu Collection) since I doubt it would gather enough popularity to get a North American release. Afterall the love is all about Wes Anderson here

I am joking now don't start jumping on me all of you Anderson fans in here

Princess Yang Kwei-Fei just started recording on my DVR about 15 minutes ago by Kenji Mizoguchi. Anyone seen this before? I saw it once about three years ago, very good movie and looking forward on seeing it again.

Definitely worth the purchase! I blind bought it myself, and not only is it one the most amazing pictures ever made, it is also one of the most beautiful looking blu-rays I own. The film is essentially like a sort of gothic fairytale, and I believe the closest anyone has ever gotten to portraying anything remotely to a fairytale on screen. At least, live action.

But, that's just my opinion.

It was that wonderful 5.1 original score.

Orchestras (or even a good mix of a piano or trio score) in 5.1 might be closer to the original experience of these films. And the sound would add yet another dimension to what the experience of a silent film was.

I don't think I'm ready for 50s noir in 5.1 though.
Yeah, I have, although I honestly can't remember which soundtrack I used when I watched it. In general I start with whatever the default is. One film that I always watch with the 5.1 instead of the 2.0 is Stop Making Sense, which is a different category, but a similar story in that they added new tracks for the blu release.

I just got some of the worst news I have had this week (Apart from the incredible fraud that took place last Sunday in my country's elections which I am still fighting against, doing activism and such but I know this forum is politics-free so I will keep this mess from you ), my family is planning a trip to the US and do you know when we are going? August 3. No B&N sale for me . I am hoping I can get some stuff because I like to pick my titles in-store. Will get less stuff or will need to try Amazon again (Which I am starting to hate because my orders take around 2 months to get here ).
Most Wanted BD Upgrades: Oshima's Youth Trilogy (Oshima, 1960s) - Four Months, Three Weeks and Two Days (Mungiu, 2007) - The Cranes are Flying (Kalatozov, 1957) - Los Olvidados (Bunuel, 1950) - Stalker (Tarkovsky, 1979) -Histoire(s) du Cinema (Godard, 1988) - October (Eisenstein, 1928) - Taste of Cherry (Kiarostami, 1997) - Hable con Ella (Almodovar, 2002) - The Ploretariat Trilogy (Kaurismaki, 1986-1990) - Viridiana (Bunuel, 1961) - Vamonos con Pancho Villa! (de Fuentes, 1936).

I'd love to see some more Tati but Hulot doesn't vacation in October.

Is it worth picking Belle De Jour up from Criterion if one already owns the StudioCanal Collection edition from Europe?

I liked the color tones on the SC version better (only comparing screenshots, I don't own the CC version), and the SC extras sounded more interesting.

Not really. I didn't HATE the film as such, but Mitchum's performance was way too broad and upfront. He might as well have worn a PSYCHO HERE t-shirt. That said, the film has some spectacular B&W compositions. But yeah, I have no desire to watch it more than once, which is why I didn't go in for the BD despite it having such an awesome sounding package.

Someone on the Mubi forums found a listing for Kwaidan on Blu from Amazon. They said the same thing happened before Videodrome and Darjeeling Limited were released. Who knows, maybe it is an early hint, or maybe it's just a listing they put out. Only time will tell.
