The race is on. Night of the Living Dead and Silence of the Lambs (two films with "of the" in the title released on the same day) are going head to head. NotLD is at 917 collections while SofL is holding at 884 members with copies (as of this post). Who will win when it's over? Maybe it'll never be over! Frankly I thought 'Silence' would be ahead. 'Night' scored better in the PQ dept, which I disagree with (I thought the upgrade for Silence was more noticeable IMO), but I guess Night is a more popular title? Ah, who cares. It's a great time to be a film fan

NOTLD will probably have the edge because it's never had a proper and readily available Blu-Ray transfer until now (previous editions by Mill Creek and Forgotten Films just don't cut it). SOTL has always been in print--even though the MGM edition is dated, I suspect it makes this upgrade a lower-priority want for some folks.

It has been established that persons who have recently died have been returning to life and have restored Night of the Living Dead to all it's glory.

That you Mr. Romero, may you rest in peace. Thank you Criterion, and everyone else who was part of the restoration team.

This film has been in my Most Wanted In The Collection on the Criterion site for a good while now. And now having this edition of the film is like wining some kind of award. Every time I pop the movie in and the music starts and that Pontiac LeMans comes down the road it takes me back to when I was kid watching it for the first time, having just bought the Good Times VHS out of a Wal-Mart bin because I had super cool grandparents who bought it for me.

I mean for real, after all the bootlegs and bad editions, this Criterion release is legend.
"A little boy went out to play. When he opened his door, he saw the world. As he passed through the doorway, he caused a reflection. Evil was born. Evil was born, and followed the boy."

Prediction/hope for this month:

Voyage of Time. All cuts.
The Tree of Life- Theatrical and Director's Cut.

Tree of Life has already been confirmed, but I feel like Voyage of Time is inevitable.

Yeah, I figured the reason the sale was earlier than expected had something to do with this month's new title announcements.

I'm guessing in the next few days they're going to announce a new Bergman set or something and wanted to get rid of their current stock before they do.

I haven't seen Night of the living dead, but it doesn't seem like a safe blind buy for me personally. (i'm not an avid horror fan)
