Default Magnavox Player

I bought the one for about 200 bucks at walmart. Anyone else have one? Mine keeps freezing up every now and then. Anyone help me out with this? Should I return it? Maybe get another one or even a different brand. Any suggestions??

I don't have that model but my dad does and he has been pretty pleased so far with it's performance. Does it freeze on all of your disc or a certain few? It might need an update sometimes that fixes issues like your having.

The only thing I can try is taking my Cars Blu-ray to my dad's in the morning and see if it freezes on him.

If you just bought it and it's not much of a hassle return it get another one and see if does the same thing. Sorry I can't be much help but there are others on here that probably can.

Ya just trade it out for a Panny 30/35 which ever they have ??? The Panasonic has the support you need.

They only have the Magnavox, Samsung or Sony. The Samsung is 50 more than the Magnavox and Sony is 100 more. Is the Sony that much better or should I try the Samsung? Or just try the Magnavox again and hope mine is just defective.

Return the junk Magnavox and check out the links below. I purchased one over Black Friday from Wal-Mart at a great price, but ultimately donated it to our Holiday Party at work after reading reviews on this site.

The extra $50 may be worth it. The Samsung is Profile 2.0 ready and has an ethernet input for connection to the internet? The Magnavox is only profile 1.1 and not internet connect. The Samsung 1500 was originally $399.99 MSRP back in Spring/Summer 2008.

Also note the new version, BD-P1600, hits stores in March 2009 with a slightly lower price then the 1500 will be discounted more. Vizio will have a Profile 2.0 model for $199.99 (MSRP) in a couple months.

Default Existing tread for Magnavox discussion

There is already a thread (HERE) that covers the various brands of BD players made by Funai. This includes the Magnavox BD players. I suggest you join this discussion there.

Interesting you call the Magnavox junk when most owners of the unit say it works just fine............Consumer Reports named it their top BD player. Oh also in case you didn't know (info you can find on another thread) the Magnavox player made by Funai contains Sony and Panasonic parts. It contains the Panasonic Uniphier chip and a Sony optical head..... There is no reason to trash the Magnavox. Maybe the OP got a bad unit...it happens. If I were the OP I would just exchange it for another unit.

how is your insignia from magnvox? Magnavox doesn't actually make anything, it's just a brand name.

Are you saying your insignia is made by funai perhaps? Or do you have a 2nd generation insignia made by a company in china whose name I can't remember now.
