It doesn’t really have to mean anything, doesn’t mean it will work, but it means we did it because we cared, not because we thought we could get the bucks. We have an idea that we thought was pretty cool that we’re playing with, which means there will be something that’s connected to ‘Cloverfield,’ but I hope it happens sooner than later because the idea is pretty sweet.”

Cloverfield was genius. Admittedly it made alot of people want to puke and was not exactly earth shatteringly awesome but it was a good movie with some unique elements. Assuming it did not make you sea sick trying to watch it. The genius of Cloverfield was its marketing and its tiny budget. A studio film which was made for nickels and marketed virally that exploded. Cloverfield 2 may have a cool story and great ideas but it will NOT have the magic of the first one. No way... no how.

please keep the cloverfield hate out of this thread. its tiresome

read that earlier, glad to see he's only willing to do it if there's a great story to be told and not just to make studios money. i have to say i originally thought the whole cloverfield shaky cam movie was going to be terrible and dumb but i saw it and actually really liked it. i personally think this story only needs 1 movie, but i'm definitely interested in seeing where the 2nd one would go..

I will see the sequel if/when it comes out. Thought the first movie was entertaining and definitely sounds and looks good on blu. Hopefully they take their time and develop a good idea and not rush something out.

yeah this is one of those movie's where i'm totally ok if they don't make a sequel. but since they've talked about it for so long, i'm curious how they can bring a 2nd outing to us

I liked the first one a whole lot, hope they can capture the spirit of it in a sequel.

I loved the first one. If the 2nd is going to be done then it needs to have the shakey cam. Yeah I said it.

I really like the first, and have been wondering when the hell the 2nd was coming. Obviously it's going to be awhile.

I think a movie about one of the Nat. Guard units would be kind of cool. Show them from the call up and their first briefings(which probably wouldn't include a giant monster), to actually arriving in the city and finding out it's not a natural disaster or terrorist attack but a 500' monster.

But focus on one or 2 people. And those people are also the ones that found the camera.

Everyone wants to know the origin of the monster. I don't think the monster died, so what did it do next & where is the monster going.

Many unanswered questions. Loved the 1st one but I'm curious.

the thing i didnt like about the movie was the thing that most fans of it liked
the shaky cam
i hated it (for the most part, not all parts)
besides that i really liked it

see i find that will be difficult to achieve, because the first one largely banked off the handheld camera "gimmick" (and i don't mean that in a bad way). continuing that style of camerawork wouldn't feel as fresh or unique in the 2nd, and i doubt abrams and reeves would revert back to normal photography. who knows though, i'm sure they'll think of something good. the first movie started with a great viral marketing campaign, i hope they can do something cool like that again

I highly enjoyed Cloverfield. I would probably put it in my Top 10 films for the year... at number 10 that is.

I'm undecided on a sequel. There's certainly room for one, but it would have to be extremely improved for me to care about.
