I pretty much listen to everything. I've been listening to a lot of vocal jazz and r&b. Bob Marley gets a lot of airplay!!! Also some Art Blakey, Miles Davis, Brubeck, Coltrane, Mingus. I also listen to a lot of Neo Soul. So I have a wide range of music preferences. So far everything I play sounds good. Travis, Hammie and Derrell gave me some more artists to look up as well. So it looks like it will be mostly music for a while in my HT.

Hey Olivier,
Right now Im watching USC play football and loving the fact they are killing it.

Yeah, yesterday I watched my favorite Star Wars movie, The Empire Strikes Back. That is by far, the best movie of them all, followed closely by Return of the Jedi. But all the story comes thru in that movie, and it also has the fewest revisions made to it. It was an awesome transfer, the PQ is very good, only looks a little soft once in a while, but pretty clean all the way thru. The SQ was great, there was so much more audio that I heard then ever before, I don't know if it was there 30 yrs ago or added a few years ago, but you hear the little details that make the movie even better. The rain in Dagobah much more accurate, esp in Yoda's home, the alarm while in the Hoth Station, C3-POs movements. I was very happy with the movie.

How was Phantom Menace? Its my least favorite of all the movies. But its important to the overall story.

Yeah I don't find it all that great either, but the cinematographic experience was absolutely great favorite part of the movie is the pod racer race , indeed very important part of the saga. The Gungans well not that crazy ab out them they tried to make it funny at the same time but it does not work well, reason why I watch that one is because I want to watch the whole Saga from 1 to 6 in proper order. SQ and PQ was exceptional, finally got to use the video bypass. the HK did not even have that.

One great thing about the AVR400 is I can disable the Sub for any source I want and leave the sub on auto.

yeah, I wanted to do that too, but I had to watch ESB. I saw that movie as an 8 yr old with my dad and brother in the theater. Its always been my fav. Thats awesome, I can disable the sub too if I want, I just have to change sub from yes to no, but I don't think its per source.

Yeah that to I can say yes and no sub for the sub to disable completely but you see my choices per source are as speaker type, Stereo only full range and Sub with speakers assuming there is an overlap as speaker type option will use the X-over.

I saw the first trilogy again when they had digitally remastered everything. That was so cool back then when i was in college. i can even adjust gain of the sub per source I was wow

It's not a gui interface but a very well done menu. I mean I do not need to see where each speaker is positionned I know which one they are.

Yeah, I can go into my receiver and see DVD/BD, VCR/DVR, CBL/SAT, Game, PC and Aux, then under each one, I can select how I want it played. So for my BDP, if it detects an Analog/PCM signal it plays Stereo without a sub. If its a 2-ch source, it plays Stereo without a sub. If its a DD/DD THD, its set to Straight Decode, same with DTS/DTS HD MA, and also Multi-ch PCM. Straight Decode gives me the audio the way its on the source. I can even switch from Stereo to Direct, Stereo leave in Audysseys adjustments and EQ, while Direct has no EQ and if there is no SUB, then NO SUB.

Its exactly what you are saying. Just laid out probably a little differently then how yours says it.

well my sony didn't have all those bells and whistles either. I found out that my wife and I share the same likes regarding music from the 30s, 40s and 50s, so I think one of the next LPs Im gonna look for is Billie Holliday, I guess my wife loves her. I put on Sarah Vaughn today and she told me how as a kid her and her sister was all into this type of music. Thats awesome, we'll be able to both enjoy it.

Im also finding that I am really starting to like New Orleans Jazz music. Im trying to discover who to look for.... I don't know enough about it, but I know that I like it.

here's an IA for sale on Audiogon, you could save yourself some cash. Although I don't think has an HT bypass.
