Default Fred Dekker talks about Blu-ray Release of MONSTER SQUAD

http://www.collider.com/entertainmen...id/8344/tcid/1

in the Interview he says they hope to release a blu-ray of Monster Squad and he mentions deleted scenes they missed and a crazy idea they have that will be exclusive to the blu-ray release

I would re-purchase this title, especially if they can do the exclusives they mentioned in the video.

Did Monster Squad sell well on DVD?

80s flick.... think Goonies meet the Universal monsters. Kids v. Dracula, Wolf Man, "Gill Man" with help from Van Helsing and Frankenstein's monster.

Consideirng how long the movie was begged and pleaded for... I can't imagine that it sold badly on DVD.

Yeah, if you didn't grow up with it... it probably isn't quite as magical an experience.

I DID grow up with it (at least saw it in theaters the week it opened), and it wasn't a magical experience.
But, like just about any sci-fantasy film from '81-'87, gets a little too much nostalgia from showing up the right time...And frankly, I wasn't that impressed with the Goonies, either.

(And the interview doesn't say there WILL be a Blu, AFAIK--any director can hope for one--but at least Squad's owned by MGM now, unlike its years of bootleg-weasel exile...
Which is more than we can say for "Night of the Creeps".)

LOL I barely remember the 80s but I think this movie is classic and campy enough to justify a purchase at some point, just not for more than $20.

Fun at the time but Jesus, I'd be so embarrassed to even admit now that I had watched it.

Remember the bit, a dumb kid writes a letter in Crayon asking the armed forces to show up in his town to kill monsters, and lo and behold they did!

I think the arrival of the armed forces had more to do with the city being destroyed than a kid writing a letter in crayon.
