It's interesting because a film with the title "Casual Sex" probably wouldn't be released today. I think it did hurt the film, but I think Smith was just naive and didn't count on how conservative this country is.

But at the same time "Chasing Amy" wasn't called "Holden Screws a Lesbian".

i've only seen a handful of films from before 1967 actually
i tend to prefer more recent films over older films
now thats not including "classics"
e.g. star wars, rocky, etc. (but those are still AFTER 67)

but the majority of my favorite films are from the last 20 years

That's when films fundamentally changed. The beginning of the New Hollywood and so on...

I'd say that that's true for most people.

I'd like to meet those who differ. However.

I saw this movie when I was about 6 years old I thought it was great and scary! So I bought it in 07 at the age of 27 and rewatched it and it was horrible!!! I buy a lot of child hood movies and very few turn out to be as good as the 1st time I saw them.

i say a good film is a good film really does not matter what year it came out. most of the greatest films ever made came out before 67. not to say they are my favs but there are more great films pre 67 than post in overall quality imo
