I agree with Levi, if it is true it's not bad news because they're doing it right.

And even if it was delayed, it wouldn't be until 5/5/2010! I mean, I guess it's possible that it would eventually come out that day, but Disney wouldn't announce a year delay just like that - they'd take it off the schedule altogether, and announce the new 5/5/2010 release date around March 2010.

So, in short, don't panic!
The guy from Digital Bits mentioned it's not a mistake though. See this post:

http://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.ph...4&postcount=21

Unless I'm misinterpreting his post, it sounds like it has really been delayed.

Oh, didn't see that post. But I stand completely behind the new date not being 5/5/2010.

I just got a similar e-mail:

Quote:
Hello from Amazon.com.

We're writing about the order you placed on February 21 2009 09:21 PST. Unfortunately, the release date for the item(s) listed below has changed, and we need to provide you with a new delivery estimate based on the new release date:

Billy Crystal, et al "Monsters Inc [Blu-ray]" [Blu-ray]
Estimated arrival date: 05/14/2010 - 06/23/2010
See, they quote an even later date. Obviously the original release date has been pulled and the system is defaulting to the "release date unknown" set of placeholder dates.

This might actually mean a delay of a week, a month, or a year. The date isn't valid anymore, and Amazon doesn't know it, and I guess Disney will have to go and set a new one shortly, before there's panic in the streets.

(This is actually my favorite Pixar film, with the most original concept and the most heartrending plot. Guess you have to have a significant baby in your life to appreciate it.)

I'm very disapppointed to say the least.

Very odd they are doing the delay after including a preview for the BLU Ray on the Pinocchio BD

As I said in the other 3 threads, it's official as well as for Rounders

There was obviously a bug or something else that happenedto delay it, now it'll just have to be repositioned with another title. The fact that two at once happened tells me it was something they shared in common

All those dates are placeholders and arbitrary

I am confused about something.

I got this e-mail hours ago. I checked this site and there were no posts about it. So I posted a new thread. Seconds later, another new thread popped up. Seconds after that, both threads got merged into a general "Disney Bluray 2009" thread.

I am generally fine with merging threads, but this seemed like major news that would get buried quickly, and deserved it's own thread. I was wrong.

So, now I am befuddled by seeing a new 3 page thread about it. Guess this is why I spend my time lurking instead of posting...

BTW, there is nothing at all on the Disney site about Monsters Inc or Bug's Life in the upcoming releases...

Damn, I was looking forward to this one. It is my 5th favorite movie from Pixar. But I rather have it done properly so I wouldn't have to double dip.

1. Finding Nemo
2. The Incredibles
3. Ratatouille
4. Cars
5. Monsters Inc.
6. Wall-E
Movies I Want On Blu-ray

From HK & Other: My Sassy Girl (Korean Version), Eastern Condor, Forbidden City Cop

Domestic: Conan the Barbarian, Extended LOTR 1-3, Finding Nemo, and The Incredibles.

Maybe, but it definitely is not going to be the most anticipated Blu release, judging from the number of Star Wars threads in the wishlist forums.

It'll be a bummer if Monsters Inc. gets delayed. If it does, I pray that the disc will be worth the wait.

I don't know the reason yet, only that it happened
Maybe Disney talked them into including a DVD copy with the films. Hence the delay.

Disney is terrible when it comes to getting stuff out in a timely manner.

The sad thing is that I guarantee you The Incredibles, Toy Story, etc. are all done. We've got to wait 2-3 years for no reason at all.

I understand it's down from the Disney Press Site - but didn't that just happen with the Batman Anthology too, and it was reinstated at the exact same date after an "embargo"?
