Blu-ray to Play on a Field of Dreams
March 19, 2009

If you win the format war, it will come. Universal's former HD DVD exclusive and hardball classic Field of Dreams starring Kevin Costner as a man who lures deceased baseball players to his property will make its way to Blu-ray Disc on March 26.

The Blu-ray version of Field of Dreams will closely mirror the HD DVD version with only a couple exceptions. Audio will be bumped up to 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio and BD-Live will be supported.

Other features include a 1.85:1 1080p transfer and the following extras.

Let's not get too excited now cause the HD DVD was rather sorry looking. I can only hope they did a new master based off a new interpositive so it can look it's best.

It's not like they haven't had the time to make it right. Hopefully they used that time wisely.

More Universal Catch-Up Titles

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring 'Cinderella Man', 'Field of Dreams', and 'Children of Men' to Blu-ray on May 26th. All three titles were previously released on the now defunct HD DVD format, and are finally making their way to Blu-ray. For all three releases, video will be presented in 1080p VC-1 accompanied by 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtracks.

I don't know of anyone who can say they don't like Field of Dreams. It's great cinema, and I cannot wait to add it to my Blu-ray library.

I'd love FIELD OF DREAMS for the collection but having had the HD DVD i'll hold off till I read reviews.

One thing for sure, James Horner's greatest score should sound splendid in DTS-MA.

Well yeah there are only 4 Costner movies I love and I only own one of them so this is a must-buy for me, one of the others is coming out in May. James Earl Jones MAKES this movie though if you ask me.
