What games are worthy of buying and which ones are just good rentals? (PSN as well) List your reasons for either renting or buying. (DLC, extras, online co-op, etc..)

Rent Games you are weary about. Buy Games you love, or like the concept of. I never rent anymore, I listen to alot of word of mouth if I am questioning a buy...

When it comes down to gaming, its a tough decision because its expensive to rent and buy games. If you rent first then decide to buy because you enjoyed it, then you ended up spending more than the retail. $59.99 + tax=$64 or so. Plus, you spent $7 or so for the rental. Thats a total about $71 or so you just spent on the same game.

IMHO? Is it really a humble opinion if you actually tell everyone about it? |

I used to rent through Gamefly, but i cancelled it as I found out that I would much rather OWN the game! Especially since trophies have been implemented! If you strive for platinum status with every game, you've got your money's worth no doubt!!

I tried gamefly for a month or so. It wasn't too bad but I felt like I had to rush and finish the game quickly so I can return it and get another game. That took a lot of the fun out of the games. Then trophies came out and I started to keep the games longer and before you know it, it was costing me more to rent games than to buy them.
I have about 60+ games in my collection, about 1/3 of them still sealed but I like the fact that I can play them whenever I want to and don't have to be rushed. |

I'd add in that, if you are looking for something new and not necessarily the greatest, it might be worth checking Target clearance or newegg.com for sales. Picked up some $7 games that have ended up being decent especially for the price. Just recently finished The Simpsons Game which was definitely worth the $7. Also, of recent cheap games, Dark Sector was okay, a bit too easy but still fun...Still have to play Mercenaries 2 and Blue Dragon (xbox 360) but know both will take some time making the $12 purchases well worth it. Just bidding time for newer releases to go on sale.
Hearing is for lazy people.
