Well those of you who had your hopes up for Silent Hill 2 it seems may not be rewarded. A source of ours wrote in this morning to tell us that plans for Silent Hill 2 have been cancelled.

The film was looking to shoot in Canada and there was even recent word from Radha Mitchell the star of the first one that she would be returning.

According to our source the film is dead in the water because it missed the window in which it was supposed to be shot. Our source also tells us that they were not going to go as dark with Silent Hill 2 and they wanted to cast more young hot looking people which on its own makes my stomach turn. I hate Gossip Girl Horror Movies as you all know. Substance people.. not eye candy.

According to our source Radha Mitchell was also not returning. Our source also goes on to say that although the film will not be shooting soon it will still very likely happen.

Silent Hill 2 is now a casualty.

So a crappy movie won't be getting a sequel? Just kidding! I would've given this follow-up a shot just because of the gorgeous Radha Mitchell.

Silent Hill 2 was the best videogame out of the series. The only good thing that could come out of this is someone doing a reboot where we actually have Harry Mason looking for Cheryl Mason and everything done exactly like out of the videogame.

I liked the movie, and even though it had a weird open ending, it's probably a good thing that they don't make any sequels for it.

Silent Hill 2 really had no connections from any of the other videogames except for Silent Hill 4: The Room because James Sunderland's father in Frank is the landlord of the apartment complex that Henry Townsend lived in.

If you've played Silent Hill 2, you how great it is.

This's rotten news; They were supposedly working on a sequel since shortly after the first, and now this. This also weakens the chances of getting a re-encode of the first one.

those thoughts are echoed throughout the gaming community...


we need to give this franchise to the French to make a true Silent Hill movie...the French are the only ones who know how to make horror films anymore.

Christophe Gans did a good job on the first but Roger Avery's script is horrible. The film kept about half of the original plot and added the damn monsters from the second game. The charm of Pyramid Head was lost on me when I saw the film for the first time.

He was in Silent Hill 2 but just taking the monster elements from that game and doing it in the film adaption was wrong. I wanted the Pterodactyl and Dogs, man.

Sounds like the direction the sequel was going would have been horrible anyway. Just what we need, another watered down Horror film.

Agreed. I didn't mind Silent Hill though, I think Gans is a great director.

I just finished the game Silent Hill: Homecoming this past weekend.

Well I actually liked the first film, but I also agree that this sequel looked "iffy." Maybe it's for the best.

I would actually argue that the Japanese know how to do excellent horror as well.

I actually felt Avary's script was decent up until Gans decided to rewrite the ending, then it all went to crap. With a different ending I'd already own this on blu-ray. As is, I can't stand the film.

The supposed original ending to the film was that 6 Pyramid Heads came in and slaughtered everyone in the church.
