Default Difference with Star Trek The Motion Picture Blu-ray ?

After watching Star Trek I on Blu-ray I thought i'd plop in the DVD version to compare the difference and noticed a problem.

On the DVD, when you first play the movie there is about 2-3 minutes of music with a black screen with white stars flying by like you are flying through a starfield.

The blu-ray version has this music, but the screen is just black. No Stars at all like you are in a black hole. I wonder if them guys cleaning up the film turned despeckle up too much and wiped away all the stars.

Anyone else have this issue? I have a 60GB PS3 so not sure if it is player related or what.

It's not a problem with the BD transfer, it's a difference between the Director's Cut DVD and the original theatrical cut of the BD. They added the starfield on the Director's Cut DVD. You will likely see many other changes between the two cuts as well.

I recall seeing this film on the big screen quite well and the overture was played over black.
And they also had an intermission with music as well...
