The Samsung BDP1600 Review Thread - Blu-ray Forum

Good Morning,

I need a new Blu-ray player and I noticed in the Best Buy ad this morning that the Samsung BDP1600 is on sale for $249.99. Can anyone tell me if this is a quality player. I am planning on hooking it up to a Samsung LN46A750 via HDMI. Thanks in advance for your help.

I'd buy it. I have 2 BD-P1500 that work just fine.

FYI, walmart has the optional BD-P1590 for $248. It is the same specs as the 1600 but does not have the flip down door which many do no like.

The guys over at CNET really like it, ranking only the Samsung 4600, 3600 and PS3 above it. I own a PS3, but if it crapped out today I would buy the 1600. The only drawback of that model is if you can't connect to the internet via ethernet, as I can't, you have to spend another $80 on a WiFi dongle. The $250 price you mention is the lowest I've seen on that player.

i just bought one an hour ago at abc warehouse for $219.00 you can always talk abc down. I havnt watched a movie yet but u i just bought the dark night and step bros plus i have netflix with blu-ray. i am pretty pumped ill let you know what i think asap. as of now i say yes get it and talk them down. you can do better than 249.00. i read up alot and i really liked the features of the 1600 like i said ill let you know asap

NICE how do you like it? i went to blockbuster and bought dark night and step brothers, 2 for 25$. I going to finish watching The Red Wings beat up on Chicago then watch the new flicks!!

Wow are you serious i was looking for that deal because they just had it going on for the 1500. Do you know if i can take mine back to abc and do that deal i havnt even had it for 24 hours yet?

I'm sure you can. Every electronics retailer should have a return policy. Just say it didn't work with some blu-ray movies if they try to charge you a restocking fee, although they shouldn't, but make sure you get the deal on Amazon first. You don't want to be left out of either deal.

You have to enter the code SAMSDISC at checkout. Don't get the expensive movies or it will be a lot of money. Make sure you're getting the 1600 and not the 3600 model.

You can also sell the movies if you want to make it a little bit sweeter

Wow. That may be one of the best deals I've ever seen posted here. A good Blu-ray player and 4 movies for under $200? I would probably go with the 3600 since I'd have to buy the $80 WiFi dongle if I went with the 1600.

The deal is good until 5/31 so you have time. The only problem is if they run out of the 1600, which I don't think they will.

ok so i was about to bring it back to abc and talked to them and i have 10 days to take it back to abc. so i will have the money on friday so im going to buy it on amazon and make sure i got it then take back the one to abc.
