Well I ordered it off Amazon U.S. and today (the day I paid to have it at my door) they sent an e-mail needing approval to keep the order "alive" until they obtain it.

the words they used was "We're still trying to obtain the following item[s] you ordered on September 28 2009" "Still want it? We'll keep on trying. To keep your order for this item open, please click the link below. Otherwise, we'll cancel your order on October 30 2009, if we haven't located it by then."

Would that be normal for an import, or is that a more "we don't know what you ordered" kind of thing?

sounds like a long wait.. very odd.. You should try amazon.com in UK. I ordered my copy at about 45.00 from a seller on ebay that has them in stock. just waiting now.

Well I can wait out a couple of weeks (if it hasn't shipped, I will try elsewhere), no big deal as long as they actually ship it.

If you want it in a hurry I could help you out, same as I offered P&P.
It would mean you ordering (from one of the places that won't ship to the US) to have it sent to me, then when it arrives I send straight to you.
Where I bought (thehut.co.uk)it is showing "In stock | Usually dispatched within 24 hours"
and it would be just over $27 delivered to me. I expect for me to then forward it to you would be roughly $6-$7, so you're talking about $33-$34 in total.

It might be worth your while checking with them to see if they'll deliver direct to you.
I just noticed on their shipping page;

There is a charge of £2.35 per item on deliveries to any countries outside of the EU.
We deliver to addresses both inside the UK and outside the UK. with the exception of Russia and Brazil.

And it's thehut.COM, not .co.uk as I previously typed.

Thanks. I am going to wait it out about a week and go from there. Thank you for offering that though. Hopefully the U.S. Amazon will get it right.

Yeah, mine shipped from amazon.co.uk on the 26th. Strange that they said they didnt have any. Hopefully I should have it shortly and I'll be sure to update once I do. Apart from Wong's Fallen Angels, this is my #1 most wanted BD, so here's hoping it lives up to the hype . . .

Oh yeah, $31 shipped to California as well - definitely not too shabby.

I heard the transfer isn't as good as Criterion's Pierrot le fou blu, but it's a good transfer. I hope my U.S. Amazon doesn't fail in bringing me it.

My copy shipped from amazon.co.uk, too. I'm pondering if I should keep my OOP Criterion DVD or sell it. I guess I'll wait for the BD to arrive and see how it stacks up.

If the U.K. ones shipped, I wonder if that means the U.K. ones for the U.S. Amazon shipped to them, then soon will ship to me!?!

I think there are extras on the Criterion DVD not included, I think the commentary is exclusive I think. I would hang onto the DVD set. I still buy Criterion laserdiscs for commentary tracks... I picked up Tootsie with Sydney Pollack, Graduate, and Wizard of Oz (by a film professor)

And the two docos shot while filming are on the Criterion release but NOT on the Studio Canal BD.

Ive stopped buying DVDs but might get the Criterion just for the extras.

Has anyone rec'd any copies that were ordered from anywhere in the world shipping to the US?

I am still waiting for my copy from the Ebay seller. My issue is I am having it shipped to my work address, and for some odd reason ouor mail that is given to us cause we get such an early morning delivery is usually one day off, because they are still sorting etc. It becomed kind of anoying.

Wasn't sure if any people in the US actually got a copy yet.

Thanks for the review.

I finally got my copy from that Ebay seller from UK today. Since I had it shipped to my work addy they usually get mail delayed one day since we do a pick up so early in the morning. Still It must have been held up in customs took 2 weeks. I ordered a BD from France once it took a week!

At any rate I haven't watched it yet but the case is interesting... again like it was pointed out the title on the spine is upside down... it is cool that the UK ratings logos are only on a sticker on the outside of the plastic wrap!

Top of the case boasts another sticker on the plastic wrap stating

"Studio Canal Collection Only on Blu Ray"

No one is happy with how the disc is stored in the case for sure.
