you’ll see annoying compression problems

My fears have come true. I hope Warner has done a better compression job.

I'm pretty annoyed if the US Warner release has a much higher bit rate transfer.

Why oh why it never occurred to me last week that the single disc UK version would have to have some compromises I don't know. Too late now, and mine has arrived.

Might watch it tonight, but if anyone out there has the US version and can confirm what the average video bit-rate is then I'll consider my options.

Even if the US release has higher bit rate (and if it has, I'm sure it's not by much; if you see the specs for both releases you will notice the US release has the theatrical cut + maximum mode + extras on a single disc, and another disc for the extended cut; since the European release uses branching, the only added thing it has on the disc compared to the first disc of the US release is the 3 minutes of added footage from the extended cut, not enough to introduce significant compression artifacts) it's still not certain the US release looks better.

In the past when certain films where handled in different countries one by Warner and other by another company (Sony, Paramount, ...) I always found the Warner release to look worse than the "competing" release. That's why earlier in this thread I asked if anyone had made a comparison between both releases.
Unfortunately it seems whoever handles compression at Warner still has a lot to learn about the format and these recent codecs.

Terminator Salvation’s 2.40:1 widescreen transfer (1080/24p AVC) is exactly what you’d expect from a mega-budgeted movie that’s less than six months old. It’s incredibly clean, without a hint of film or even digital artefacts (save for perhaps some very light posterisation that could easily be inherent to the source) and impressively detailed throughout.

Good one, why would there be compression artifacts with only 3 min extra and when it features seamless?

Watched last night, excellent PQ throughout and AQ was fantastic, especially in the first half of the movie where the surround was used to excellent effect to build the tension.

PQ 4/5
AQ 5/5

isn't the second disk in the US one just the crappy digital copy and the main bluray disk is pretty much the same as the UK one

Oh, that makes sense
Just wondered what would be wrong with the perfectly fine US version when you happen to live in the US...
