Not only should they keep the wiggle, but the flickering as well. Originally, they said the flickering of certain glowing objects was unintentional, but it actually really lent itself to the charm of this digital world they were in, where nothing's perfect like in the real world. There's glitches and when you see the flickering, you also hear a little "bzzt!" sound effect. I LOVE THAT.

Looks like us TRON geeks are keeping this thread alive and healthy! I was thinking about watching it this weekend (on DVD).

Default Count me in

I saw it twice in 70mm in the 80's (once on an IMAX screen in Toronto) and I'm still longing to recreate that feeling of total immersion. It -needs- to be on blu.

Bring it on, and I can relegate the dvd to storage with the 12" laserdisc...

Knowing that Disney loves to promote stuff alongside new theatre releases, this will probably become available on blu-ray when Tron Legacy will be in theatres - Same for Roger Rabbit.

Did a little searching and the theater date is supposedly December 17, 2010.
That means no TRON Legacy on blu-ray until April 2011.

Plus I am hesitant to buy the TRON release on blu-ray prior to that for fear of a "two for one" box set. It's gonna be a LONG 14 months to wait until then.

I'll still buy it on release day, because it's one I "have to have" and I will not be able to wait. I really want to see what they do to it when they "Blu it up" — so to speak. If a killer boxset comes out six months or a year down the road after that and I decide I must have it (pricing and content will be huge factors here), then I'll sell the first one. I would not be opposed to buying Tron Legacy on its own, and just having two individual Blu-rays (one for each movie).

Hopefully with the release of the sequel in December we might see then or with the home release of the sequel. Either way I'm getting it.

Bit of Tron Blu info on AICN:

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/44125

Quote:
It turns out my buddy and I were sitting
right in front of Lisberger and we overheard him talking about how he
just finished over-seeing complete color-correction and major
enhancements to the original TRON for BLU RAY! It sounded like he
basically kept the movie the same (no CGI inserted) but corrected the
colors throughout the entire film and enhanced everything. He said it
was a dream to go back to something he made thirty years ago and
correct it to look exactly how he would want it for the Blu Ray
release (which he made no mention of when that would happen). Anyway,
Lisberger never mentioned any of that in the Q and A and I thought you
guys would want to know about it.

If I know anything about Disney, they'll either release a new home-video version of "Tron" right before "Legacy" hits theaters, wait until the sequel hits video, or wait until 2012 for the 30th anniversary.

BOX SET! It has to be a Tank, Recognizer, IO Tower or something.
