Opening Impressions: (Non-technical)
Big Daddy was right, it did come double-boxed. Not bad. Good god, they make it seem like SUCH a white van subwoofer on the outside.

Honestly though, they couldn't have come up with a better company name than Acoustic Audio? I'm gonna make a subwoofer company called 'Low-Frequency Bass.' Anyway, continuing on.
Aesthetics! She is quite a looker...The silvery white of the driver draws attention to it! I would run it without the grille on. The cherry finish is as beautiful as everyone here has said it is, although it doesn't match 'perfectly' with the Cherry of the Polk and B&W...but that's just my OCD being nitpicky. Other OCD notes - the padded feet stickies aren't perfectly on-center with the wooden feet. Easily remedied. Hey, it was $138. I can't complain too much yet. The woodwork (well, MDF-work) has no flaws that I can distinctly point out, unlike Jomari's.
Although the packing weight of this came in at 36 pounds, she seems to weigh the same, if not a little less, than my Dynamo (30 lbs). The HDSub-10 isn't
Panzerkampfwagen-sized, but it isn't close to the frame of the former.
Side note - IT IS NOT going to be placed there. The pic is just for comparison. Sheesh. It is going to be placed in the acute angle that my two couches make when they meet, right in that little space.
Amplifier is again, nothing too special, your basic inputs and controls. What a weird port design! I haven't had a ported subwoofer since my HTiB days, I love the sealed Dynamo. Isn't porting, in a sense, cheating? I could be mistaken here. Anyway.
Moving on to connections. It's wired from the LFE Out on my Dynamo (not through the receiver itself) through the back of my stand, under my rugs and coffee table and main sofa, and out to the little space. Using a Monoprice subwoofer cable, 25'-0"; unlike the BlueJeansCable ones I use on my Dynamo. Also have an extension cord running from my APC in the same manner to the subwoofer since its power cord isn't long enough to reach any outlet and still remain hidden. I have it resting on a carpet. It's not a isolater by any means, just for looks. If it was a little smaller, I would've put it behind my center surround - but this is its opening placement for now, maybe it'll get better elsewhere.
And this...well, this is a random Calvin & Hobbes cartoon I found funny and wanted to share with you guys.
Now to fire her up! Test scenes so far are Kung-Fu Panda battle, Transformers final scenes, War of the Worlds storm, and Ep. I podracing. Going to be moving about my HT/Living room to see what differences it makes. It better.
