I did receive the 2 steelbooks months later, damaged and with a hefty charges of 1935 EGP invoice!
Of course Amazon paid that amount to Aramex but for a value of 800 EGP as mentioned in documents, customs should have been 112 EGP. To make it 1935 EGP is just INSANE.
It was Amazon US and although I selected Global Priority Shipping, Amazon sent the 2 steelbooks with Aramex. With so much delay, Amazon sent a replacement via DHL and arrived within days as usual.
I think Aramex (Shop and Ship) is weak when dealing with customs, unlike DHL which is quite powerful enough to file a complaint at the very least against Egyptian customs if they tried to pull that shit on them!
Why your shipment was sent via Aramex instead of DHL? was it Amazon US or UK or...?
Aramex is lying then. I bought 8 steelbooks from Amazon France in mid February and they arrived fine via DHL without being held.
All my movie shipments with DHL went through just fine and the only time with Aramex, they got held so it must be Aramex or customs people clear DHL packages differently.
When you ship directly from Amazon US is via DHL, right? (the Global Priority thing?)
I believe those fees are imposed by the customs (Government) and not Aramex!!
Last time I ordered online (last summer) my shipments were all held by MTS for censorship inspection, I delegated a customs clearence agent from Cairo Airport to custom clear all my shipments, I did it slowly so not raise suspicion that I might be a dealer or something. It took me 2 and half months to clear them all !
EDIT: I just got off the phone with Aramex S&S and they confirmed movies are now subject to formal clearance, meaning the customs agent will hold it for censorship inspection (this means there will be additional fees to be paid for the censorship clearance). I already went through it last summer and its mentioned in the customs receipt.
I've received the same. A bunch of scammers!
Aramex also might intentionally make customs hold the movies for censorship clearance to get more money! They did that with me once recently (direct shipping from Amazon US and not S&S) but DHL doesn't do such thing.
Yeah. They handled them badly plus the stupidly high clearance and custom fees these days. For example £72 movies inside Europe become £123 to Egypt after removing the 20% European VAT!
