I'm a retired rocket scientist and the 'space consultant' for NBC News. I'm researching the life of astronaut Gordon Cooper, and I want to ask about this quotation you attribute to him at

section: UFO'S, The Controversial Phenomenon
"Intelligent beings from other planets regularly visit our world in an effort to enter into contact with us...NASA and the American government know this and possess a great deal of evidence. Nevertheless, they remain silent in order not to alarm people...I am dedicated to forcing the authorities to end their silence." — Gordon Cooper, astronaut, at a UFO conference.
Now, I've been shown letters that indicate that Colonel Cooper has denounced this quotation as bogus, and even [in 1977 or so] filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles against Columbia Pictures to prevent its use in promotional materials.
What about the source of that quote & about resolution of the lawsuit?
