If Zadina and Kubalik can play most of the regular season the way they did against Pittsburgh, the Wings will compete for a playoff spot. And if Zadina has a breakout season, that alone would speed up the rebuild a lot. Rasmussen also looked fantastic and if he builds on last season’s progress, Veleno might become very expendable. I can’t imagine Yzerman would want him to be a 4th line center long term so he could be a decent trade chip at some point. I didn’t see much of Cossa, so I don’t know how much he was tested, but the goal he gave up was a very good goal…nothing soft about it at all.
